Moose Winooski’s, located in Kitchener, is a large establishment with ample parking and a generous number of staff. While the staff we encountered were polite and courteous, management was conspicuously absent when issues arose, contributing to what was a truly terrible experience for us.
If you're looking for BBQ, especially their supposedly renowned brisket, prepare yourself. Our experience with it was nothing short of a disaster. The fajitas and nachos were also disappointing.
The menu boasts "Gluten Friendly" options, and upon calling ahead, we were assured they had a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. This news was met with excitement, and we proceeded to order exclusively from the gluten-friendly menu.
However, our optimism quickly evaporated when we were informed that the nachos, despite being on the gluten-friendly menu, were fried in a shared fryer. This is not "gluten-friendly"; it's misleading and completely unsuitable for anyone with a genuine gluten intolerance. Despite our repeated inquiries, no manager came to address our concerns. Needless to say, we didn't finish the below-average nachos. This felt like a bad joke.
Then there was the brisket, the dish they apparently hang their BBQ hat on. It was so incredibly dry that I actually took a video of it. It was unequivocally the worst brisket I have ever tasted. To her credit, our server, who was otherwise excellent, acknowledged how bad it was and agreed with our assessment. While they did remove it from our bill, that hardly rectifies the experience.
The chicken wings, which we were told were gluten-free, were decent and well-sauced. However, the chicken fajitas were dry, arrived without any sizzle, and the accompanying toppings were subpar.
When the bill arrived, the brisket had been removed, but the gluten-contaminated nachos remained. At that point, I didn't even bother to argue or make a scene. What I would have expected, and what any well-managed establishment should provide, is for a manager to approach us to understand the situation and attempt to resolve it professionally, rather than leaving a young server to handle such significant issues. A manager's role is to manage and ensure guest satisfaction.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this ranks as the worst restaurant experience I've had. The sheer lack of knowledge regarding dietary restrictions and the apparent indifference towards customer satisfaction, likely due to their high volume of patrons, was astounding. Remember, nothing...
Read moreWe recently celebrated my boyfriend's birthday at Moose Winooski's, and I must say, it was a vegan paradise! With our entire party being vegan, we were thrilled to discover that Moose Winooski's offered a dedicated plant-based menu. From start to finish, our dining experience was exceptional.
To kick off the festivities, we decided to indulge in their plant-based wings and Buffalo chicken burger. These delectable dishes truly exceeded our expectations. The wings were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, while the Buffalo chicken burger was a tantalizing blend of savory and spicy. Moose Winooski's demonstrated their culinary prowess by crafting these plant-based alternatives that were so satisfying and delicious, even the most devoted meat-lover would have been impressed.
As the meal drew to a close, we couldn't resist trying the cinnamon rolls for dessert. Oh, what a treat! The warm, fluffy rolls with their sweet and fragrant cinnamon filling were a delightful ending to our birthday celebration. The plant-based twist on this classic dessert was executed flawlessly, leaving us with smiles on our faces and contentment in our hearts.
Aside from the incredible food, the atmosphere at Moose Winooski's was lively and welcoming. The staff members were friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the vegan options available. It's always a pleasure to dine at a restaurant where the staff understands and respects the dietary choices of their customers.
We left Moose Winooski's feeling not only satisfied but also grateful for the memorable vegan dining experience they provided. Their plant-based menu truly caters to those seeking delicious alternatives, and we highly recommend it to both vegans and non-vegans alike.
If you're looking for a restaurant that goes above and beyond to accommodate vegans, Moose Winooski's is the place to be. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual night out, you won't be disappointed by their scrumptious plant-based offerings. We can't wait to return and explore more of their mouthwatering...
Read moreI've never given a bad review before, but the food was so bad. We were a table of 10 adults. No one liked their meal. I think they have a vat of tasteless goop sauce in the back that they put on everything. We started with a summer berry salad with chicken. The dressing, instead of being a light vinaigrette which you would expect was a tasteless heavy white sauce. The chicken which came with the Salad was heavily goop sauced as and minced. My husband had to ask what the meat was because he thought it was tuna. My son ordered a vegan chicken burger. The burger was cold and they put it on a bun not toasted with a watery sauce. He received this bread soaked tasteless mess. My daughter ordered the buffalo chicken fingers. They brought her dish out with so much sauce on the fingers. The fingers were so coated with extra sauce that she had to eat them with a knife and fork. The fries underneath were a soggy uneatable mess. My quesadilla had more of the pulled chicken with sauce described above. It was soggy and tasteless served with a thimble of salsa. My husbands schnitzel was so overcooked he could barely cut into it. It was served with gravy freshly mixed out of a cheap packet of sodium something or other and four (4) green beans. My other daughter did not finish her salad, my father did not like his burger and so on. We were celebrating my vegan sons 27th birthday along with alcoholic beverages. When we asked that the birthday treat be served vegan the server apologized and said they do no give free vegan desserts. I guess the $350 bill was not suffice to warrant a freebee. I understand that Moose Winooskies has new owners. Its a beautiful patio it will be a shame to see the...
