I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Tipsy Pelican and it was an unforgettable experience. Our waitress, Rebecca, was fantastic! Her friendly service, excellent dish recommendations, and lively sense of humour made our evening truly special.
We started with the Crab Cakes, served with garlic aioli and balsamic glaze. For the main course, I enjoyed the Butternut Squash Ravioli, topped with sage brown butter, spiced pecans, and parmesan. The combination of flavours was exactly what I was hoping for.
My friend ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which came with smoked chili maple glaze, bacon, parmesan, and garlic aioli. For the main course, they chose the Black Truffle Ricotta Sacchettoni, featuring blush sauce, mushroom, sun-dried tomato, beef tenderloin, and truffle oil. I tried their food, and both dishes were absolutely delightful.
The restaurant itself has a vibrant, eclectic vibe, with walls adorned with classic rock and roll memorabilia and a fascinating mix of images, posters, and quirky decor that make the space truly unique. The playful and creative atmosphere, coupled with a relaxed setting, makes it the perfect place to kick back, enjoy some great food, and soak in the lively energy of Grand Bend. We also enjoyed some of the unique and refreshing cocktails!
Overall, The Tipsy Pelican is a must-visit, and Rebecca made our dining experience not only delicious but also a great time. Highly...
Read moreTerrible experience! If I could give this place a ZERO star, I would. It started with putting our name and number down with the hostess. She said we would receive a call within the hour. When we didn't hear back, we went by to see what had happened, and she said that she called even though we did not receive any calls. We could still sit and order, but we overheard from another table that they experienced the same thing! Our server got our drinks and took our food orders. There were only four people, and as the food came out, we noticed one of them needed to be corrected, we got it sent back. While we started eating out meals, we also noticed that one of the other meals had pecans from the "butternut squash ravioli" Keep in mind we purposely DID NOT ORDER this meal as I am ALLERGIC to tree nuts! We had ordered the âgnocchi gorgonzolaâ. I don't know where the confusion was, as there was no gnocchi. This mistake cost me a severe allergic reaction!!! I had taken Benadryl and left the restaurant as I had to use my EpiPen, my boyfriend had called 911, and I was rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance where I then had to stay overnight. The restaurant was so dark I didnât even notice what I was eating!! This was a very terrifying night. THEY STILL CHARGED US FOR OUR MEALS!! I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! I DO NOT RECOMMEND...
Read moreDuring our recent visit, we sampled a variety of dishes including their crab cake, chicken pesto sandwich, chicken quesadillas, and shrimp tacos, accompanied by a few drinks. The food, overall, was impressiveâespecially the crab cake, which stood out for its unique and delectable flavor profile. The blend of fresh crab meat and well-balanced seasoning made it a memorable bite.
However, while the taste of the food was excellent, the service left much to be desired. The wait for our drinks alone was over 40 minutes, and the food followed at a similarly slow pace. Even when it came time to settle the bill, I found myself having to track down the server to request the card machine, which detracted from what could have been a flawless dining experience.
One of the most redeeming features of the restaurant is its prime location, right on the beach, offering diners stunning views and direct access to the shoreline. The ambiance is serene, and the scenic surroundings add an undeniable charm to the place.
With improvements in service speed and attentiveness, this restaurant has the potential to be an absolute gem. Its fantastic food, paired with its unbeatable location, makes it a spot worth revisitingâhopefully with more efficient...
