From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. The décor is stylish yet comfortable, striking the perfect balance between elegance and relaxation. But it’s the menu that truly steals the show.
Let’s talk about those vegetarian options. They’re nothing short of mind-blowing. I’ve sampled a fair share of vegetarian dishes across various establishments, but the offerings at House of Boateng Café are in a league of their own. The creativity and depth of flavor in every dish are simply unparalleled.
Their brunch offerings are particularly impressive, featuring dishes that are both inventive and satisfying. The roasted beet and walnut salad—a vibrant, eye-catching plate that’s as delicious as it is nutritious—is just one example. The beets are perfectly roasted, their earthy sweetness complemented by a tangy vinaigrette that ties everything together. The walnuts add a delightful crunch, and the whole dish is finished with a sprinkle of fresh herbs that elevate the flavours to new heights.
The wild mushroom risotto is another standout. It’s a masterpiece of texture and taste, with each spoonful revealing layers of rich, umami goodness. The mushrooms are sautéed to perfection, adding a meaty depth that satisfies even the most ardent carnivores. The risotto itself is creamy and perfectly seasoned, a true testament to the chef’s skill and dedication to vegetarian cuisine.
For those who prefer a lighter fare, the café offers an array of other fantastic lunch options that go beyond brunch. Their menu features a variety of sandwiches, soups, and seasonal specials that cater to diverse tastes and dietary needs. Each dish is crafted with the same level of care and creativity, ensuring that there’s something delicious for everyone.
And let’s not forget the dessert—an out-of-this-world vegan chocolate mousse that’s so decadently smooth and rich, it might make you question why you ever needed dairy in the first place. The delicate balance of sweetness and cocoa intensity makes it a standout finale to a memorable meal.

Read moreI was in this area because of a festival that was happening this past weekend on August 3, 2025. I was very hungry and so was my wife, but we wanted to try something new so we looked at whatever was nearby us and this café happened to be the one closest to us with plenty of good reviews.
It would be remiss of me to not share my experience at this café. I honestly don’t know how this place has so many great reviews.
I ordered a coffee and my wife ordered a chai latte along with our food. Our coffee and latte did not arrive until 35 minutes after I had ordered and paid for it. On top of that, I think it only came to us minutes after we asked what was taking so long. And please bear in mind that this place was only at 60% capacity for their seating so not an extremely busy day.
My wife and I both ordered the same thing so I cannot speak to all of their creative sounding dishes that seemed to be African themed, however, we can speak to the breakfast platter that we both ordered. My order consisted of two eggs whichever way I wanted it cooked, two sausages or bacon, salad, and hashbrowns.
The chicken sausages had zero flavor, and that is not an understatement. The hashbrowns were soggy and mushy…no crisp or crunch to it at all. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were fine, nothing outstanding about it, but just basic eggs. The side salad was probably the best part of this entire meal sadly. To top it all off our food did not get served to us until just over an hour from the time that we ordered the food. Again, as I mentioned, it was at 60% capacity seating so definitely not a full or busy place. And I take into consideration that maybe they were understaffed, however there was no communication that it would be this long and no apology or acknowledging of it.
The ambience of the restaurant is trying to go for a more trendy and modern venue and the outdoor patio is really nice as there are plenty of seating available in the sunshine or in the covered area as well.
With all the good reviews of this place, it makes me almost want to go back and give it another shot, and one of their more original dishes, but truly, if this is a sign of the quality of how they present their food then I think it will be...

Our visit to this café can best be described as a curious blend of charm and confusion.
Upon entering, we were welcomed to choose our own seats—a pleasant start, complemented by prompt service with water and menus. However, we were instructed to place our orders at the counter, which felt somewhat unconventional. Despite this, our spirits remained high as we deliberated over our selections. When it came time to pay, we were surprised to find ourselves processing the transaction before the meal was served. While the waitstaff was attentive throughout our visit, the payment structure felt disjointed.
The Food:
Salmon Eggs Benedict: The dish fell short in terms of flavor. While the salmon had a subtle taste, the rest of the components lacked seasoning. The hollandaise, though technically well-executed, was bland and unremarkable. The eggs were perfectly cooked, but the accoutrement crispy rice pavé was disappointing, lacking the expected richness. My sides, a mix of artisan greens and confit potatoes, were equally uninspiring; the greens were devoid of any dressing, leaving them tasteless, while the potatoes also needed a boost of seasoning.
Braised Pork Belly Sandwich: This dish demonstrated significant flaws in technique. The pork belly had an overly thick fat cap that lacked proper rendering, resulting in a granular texture that detracted from the experience. The seasoning was minimal, and the candied jalapeños and slaw similarly failed to add depth or flavor. Although the concept showed promise, poor execution left it feeling disjointed.
While the ideas behind the dishes are commendable, they require more attention to detail and execution to bridge the gap between vision and reality. I believe in the chefs’ potential, but there appears to be a disconnect in the passion and care reflected in the food. My hope is that they return to the kitchen with renewed vigor, addressing these shortcomings to enhance the...
