La Pita — Restaurant in Lasalle

First time ordering, I got 2 gyros, a side salad and a humm, enough for about 3 meals. If you're getting a gyro, you may as well get a second one with it. It's a dollar off, and gives you left overs for later.

Gyro meat has got some bite, and the tomato is acidic, but the sauce does a wonderful job of taming and pulling the sandwich together. The humm is oily and garlicy and delicious, pairing wonderfully with the soft dryness of the pita and the savory spice of the gyro, earning the involuntary "mmmm". A time-tested formula sure to delight. Overall, a quality sandwich, and the kind of meal I expect when I order from a place called "La Pita on Sandwich".

On the downside, my salad came with onions and cucumbers, which I specifically asked to be excluded. But I had no problem pawning those bits off to one of my hungry house mates. There were no onions on my pita, so I'm thinking they were made by different people to get my order out in good time. The ingredients weren't mixed in, so it wasn't too hard to pick them out to my satisfaction. And most people want those things in their salad anyway.

Also, personal opinion, their drink game is lacking. But, like... whose isn't these days?

The presentation of the packaged meal was adequate. It smelled like food, and I was able to tell what was what before opening anything. Call me old fashioned, but I'm a fan of the occasional plastic bag for my garbage pail.

Preordered. Food was ready for promised time. I did find this establishment expensive for what we got. We ordered a chicken falafel which was okay. It came with a side of rice. The other orders were two beef souvlaki on pita. One order came with limpy fries and the other with potato wedges which were nicely spiced. The sandwiches were fair in size. We split a greek salad. The lettuce in the salad was old and limpy and many core pieces included. The dressing came separate and was tasty. For over $50.00, we have had better. A Definite mediocre meal. Tried to go in for a salad and upon entering restaurant, was a man behind the counter (the owner), appearing very annoyed at my very entry to the restaurant.

I had my service dog with me and he proceeded to kick me out of the restaurant without me barely even walking to the counter to place an order. Asked me if I was paying by cash and I said I had a card, and refused me service because of my service dog. Will not be returning. Maybe make yourself familiar with the rules for those entering your establishment with their required service animals.
