Omaki Sushi — Restaurant in Laval (administrative region)

I've been to Japan on business. I've had sushi in San Francisco and pretty much every top rated sushi restaurant my business travel took me over the last two decades. Having a trusted local sushi joint is an essential part of my life when I'm home. When I moved to Vimont in 2018, I was seriously disappointed by the first few places I tried. Then I saw Omaki's rating on Google reviews and drove there to give it a try. I hesitated when I saw the parking lot with 2 (full) spots in front. I thought to myself: "that can't be right", and turned back. Wrong move - I should have know better! It took me 2 years to finally try it, but when I did I had my wow moment. I do think it's good though to know what you are getting into so I will describe the experience. This is an a-la-carte artisanal sushi restaurant. This is not an all-you-can eat, junk food restaurant. It will take time for your sushi to be prepared so don't arrive starving and hoping to eat in the next 5 minutes. We waited about 30 mins before our tempura arrived and another 15 mins before the first plate of sushi arrived.

If you have the right expectation then this will be the best sushi experience you ever had. The atmosphere is very calm and quiet. We enjoyed the wine we brought and just talked while they prepared our food and it was one of the nicest experiences at a restaurant I ever had, and hands down,...

Where to begin.. thank you all the reviewers because this place definitely makes, the best Sushi I've ever had, this isn't an exaggeration. The second we got the imperial rolls and tempura shrimp, we knew that the sushi was going to be special. I've tried so many sushi places and they were all expensive and not good. This on the other hand, prices were fair, a tad pricey but the quality is beyond anything I've ever had. And Eve, the waitress, was so kind and wonderful to interact with as others mentioned in their reviews. I told her she's famous on Google maps and she didn't even know lol.
