This restaurant got 1 stars for several reasons.
First, the hygiene. They use a single knife for every single pizzas. I saw the employee use the same knife over and over again in front of the customers and did not care at all, which means they're used to doing this. Cutting a vegetarian pizza with a knife containing meat because a pizza full of meat was cut with it before, then using that same knife now filled with meat and vegetables to cut the cheese pizza.
If they do this in front of our eyes, imagine what to do back in the kitchen where we can't see everything. I wonder what food inspection would think of this.
Second, the arancini was trash (no offense). It had zero taste (except the taste of oil), it had no seasoning at all, not even salt or pepper; only a ball of deep fried and extremely bland white rice. Had tomato sauce in the center (with no seasoning too). The cheese was also inexistent, so the arancini felt like eating a ball of over-boiled rice with ketchup. How can you call this an arancini? Fried tasteless rice with ketchup and no cheese. That arancini felt like someone spitting on my face.
Third, the pizza. The crust and dough were very good, baked the way it should be. Giving it a golden look with a crispy taste. The variety was there too, but lacked meatless options (or maybe they were just sold out, who knows). The pizza was very good, i won't deny it. However, it was a little bit expensive for what it was. 46$ for one single large pizza that wasn't even baked in a wood oven (i could be wrong in the wood-oven part, but looking at their kitchen, it looked like a normal oven). And the tomato sauce was more sour than it should be, meaning they either use cheap canned sauce or the sauce was past due.
Fourth, freshness. It was definitely more fresh then many other places, but there is room for improvement; especially for this situation. Every pizza is made in advance. So in other words, you walk in, select the slices that you want (which may have been made several hours ago) and they bake them a second time to warm them before eating. Oh you came in at 8pm, even though we close at 9pm, we won't cook you a pizza that was sold out and will force you to buy those left overs made an hour ago. This is very common among fast food restaurant, but to do this while selling them at such an expensive price? It costs near 5$ per slices.
The last point is the price. As mentioned before, you could pay around 46$ for a whole pizza (10 slices), or near 5$ per slices. So you buy a whole pizza or 10 slices, at the end it will still be the same price. Any good place makes you save a few dollars when buying the whole thing instead a few slices.
The service was also slow. There were around 5 people behind me (couples), they were 4 employees taking care of only 4 orders (so 1 order per employee) and i had to wait near 10 minutes for my pre-cooked pizza to get warmed a second time. Which means that the people behind me waited a good 20 minutes for some...
Read moreBest pizza in Laval. I’ve been coming to this place since the last 4 years and really enjoy the food. As a pizza amateur that has had pizza in over a 100 different restaurants on 3 different continents, I can say hands down that this place will remain in my top 10. Do not expect a New York style pizza with cheese 🧀 falling out of everywhere. This is more Italian style with a balanced amount of cheese. Their dough is amazing. Almost like if they imported Italian water to make it because it’s so plush and bounces back right up at the right speed when you compress it. The sauce is a little tangy and tastes a little like fresh crushed tomatoes 🍅. The pizzas with meat are very good specially the one with Italian sausage but lacks a little bit more meat. I still give the place 5/5 because the dough is perfect 👌 6/5. Don’t forget to use some spicy chili oil on your pizzas for the extra kick. A big bonus for me was the porchetta sandwich. The porchetta is very authentic and the bread is new and reinvented. They made the old work with a new style of sandwich. Yet simple but good. In the porchetta meat you will find moist pieces of porc and crispy porc skin that adds a twist of salty-ness to the sandwich. Will come back here for more. I still need to taste a couple...
Read moreMy experience was unfortunate. This restaurant has terrible customer service. We ordered 3 pizzas online for a party a week before and an order confirmation was sent. The day of the party we went to pick up the pizzas at the indicated time from our order however the restaurant was closed for the holiday. It was never indicated on their site or their voicemail that the restaurant would be closed for the holidays. I immediately called the owner and he said that it was an error with the company who deals with their online orders and would offer us a refund if we sent the confirmation. At this very call he was polite and reassuring. After not receiving a refund for over a week I called back. At this time he told me it was Door Dash’s fault and refused to offer any help/compensation. Keep in mind nowhere was it mentioned that we ordered from Door Dash not even the confirmation email. He refused to help us get in touch with Door Dash as well. He then hung up on me. I am very disappointed on how Fernando handled the...
