Thai & Lao Spicy — Restaurant in Laval (administrative region)

The lady who served us was very kind. We spoke about how I travelled from Toronto to Laval at the wrong time. A few more weeks I would’ve caught the F1 events!

Unfortunately the food was not nearly as good as the conversation.

I’m sorry to myself for not listening to my gut upon first entering. The floors weren’t the cleanest, the place was cluttered 3 or 4 huge tables, I felt out of place. But that should’ve been my cue to leave. I decided to stay.

I’m glad I told her to make it spicy because I fear what I would’ve tasted like without that.

We were expecting a bit more from our visit to this restaurant after hearing good things from others about it. The decor is quite nice , with the various Buddha statues and other decorations, even the cover of the menu is nicely decorated. The dishes here were somewhat ho-hum. We had the tofu pad thai and seafood soup...both of which were ok, but lacked any real flavour...fairly bland dishes. The dessert of fried pineapple and mango mousse was quite good, but the most impressive thing here was their green tea. We ordered pad Thai-Lao, and the imperial rolls set ( #26 we not sure about the name), and spring rolls. Pad Thai was really tasty. It’s a salty version of pad Thai that can’t be found in downtown Montreal. I even wanted to buy their homemade chili sauce. It was the perfect amount of spice. I’m a fan !!!
