I would not recommend this restaurant. As a foodie who’s written many restaurant reviews across the country (visible on my Google profile), I can confidently say this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Since moving to Lethbridge three months ago, my husband and I have made a point of trying a wide range of local restaurants. Unfortunately, Browns on the west side has been our only consistently disappointing experience. Despite two poor visits previously, we gave it a third try, hoping the earlier issues were just off-days. Sadly, each visit only confirmed a pattern of poor service and underwhelming food.
On our first visit, the restaurant was quiet with very few patrons, yet our server was practically nonexistent. After waiting an excessive amount of time just to place our order, I was informed that the dish I’d wanted—one of the restaurant’s featured items for that day—wasn’t available. This should have been communicated up front. Had I known, I would have gone to the other Browns location across town instead of waiting in vain.
The second visit wasn’t much better. This time my dish was available, but it arrived cold. My cocktail—a classic old fashioned—was poorly made with the wrong ingredients, and after we were served, our waitress disappeared entirely. She either avoided our table or stayed hidden in the kitchen, leaving us awkwardly stuck waiting far too long just to pay the bill.
The third visit was where we drew the line—and it marked the first time we’ve ever walked out of a restaurant without eating. We were seated by the host and quickly greeted by our server with waters, and then… nothing. She never returned to take a drink order. After an extended period our server eventually returned to take our food order but never followed up. We ran out of water and were only refilled by another passing server helping a different table. We sat at our table for over an hour without food, and without any acknowledgment. Meanwhile, we watched guests who arrived well after us get their meals and drinks promptly.
Our server spent more time chatting with the bartender or hiding in the kitchen than checking on us. There was no apology, no offer of a complimentary item, no discount, no explanation—just silence. After an hour of being ignored and with other commitments to attend to, we left.
We genuinely wanted to like this place and gave it multiple chances to redeem itself, but after three consistently poor experiences, we won’t...
Read moreFood was delicious! But the serving staff was awful… Originally we had gone in and they asked us in such a poor attitude, to go back and wait in the room - we had to wait about 10 minutes which was fine but the one hostess asked if we had a preference, we said booth and she opened the door for us to come in. She cleaned off a table and came back and said “it’s not ready” in such an awful tone and we said okay and sat back down. She continued to give crappy customer service and just rushed us to the table, I don’t think she smiled or even asked how we were doing once. Then when we were sat, we continued to wait another 10 minutes with no drink order and no server while they just kept walking by. There were about 2-3 servers and 14 tables - some who were getting ready to leave. Once we finally had someone come over she was also very snobby, which to our belief was the manager. (The lady who asked us to sit back in the waiting room from earlier) At this point we were very put off by the environment the staff had created for our lunch experience and was very upsetting. We can be very understanding during lunch rushes, but when you can’t even bare to smile, ask us how we are doing, or just have good customer service, please, don’t work in customer service. I also want to point out that once the lunch rush was over, every staff member working at the front would all come together and just talk and be on their phones. Was super unprofessional!! I love their food but the staff makes me not...

We arrived restaurant right before the dinner time, around 5 pm. The restaurant is not very busy at that time. The atmosphere is warm and great. The servers were very nice and friendly. They were all very welcoming and pleasant. We quickly found a seat and began to order the food. We had CRISPY CALAMARI for starters and ordered #28DRAGON BOWL and ROAST BEEF FRENCH DIP for the main meal. The food came out fast, fresh and well cooked. The taste of the food was so tasty and delicious. Also, all the dishes were in the large portion. In the end, we had to take some food to go. In summary, It was a nice experience having dinner at Brown Social House. We love it. Definitely, we should go back again in...
