I'm just really confused about the whole ordeal we went through with them. The good: Based on what food I could eat, the samosas were good and seemed homemade, the pakoras were good but very very dry, the rice was nicely seasoned, and the bread was good. The mango salad was alright but not at all as shown on the photo on their website - it is actually a lettuce salad with some mango and veggies on top. The servers were also nice and polite. The bad: the chickpea curry that was supposed to come with the veggie platter was missing, it was frustrating but not the end of the world to drive 15 mins away and be missing that. However, the bigger issues started with the Veggie Jalfrezi, which on their menu is listed as "mixed vegetables cooked with fresh ginger, garlic, tomatoes, and spices." This description worked well for me because I have a dairy allergy, and I've ordered the Veggie Jalfrezi from a couple of my local restaurants and it's always been great. However, when I opened the container, I noticed there were chunks of paneer inside. I called them and I was informed that not only was there paneer, but cream in the sauce. When I asked why this wasn't listed in the dish description, they didn't have an answer but told me instead that if I order it I'd just have to ask for no paneer or cream. This was a very strange concept to us. If I order something labeled "vegetarian", I'm not going to have to special order it without meat, right? Also what would be the point of NOT listing the paneer or cream in the description with all the other ingredients, there are plenty of menu items that have both ingredients and clearly list them, which made them easily avoidable for me, or so I thought. This point was even further confusing because my partner ordered the lamb Jalfrezi and his was not creamy at all compared to the dish I got, as his had a very dark red sauce. I asked for a refund for the veggie dish, which they were receptive to, and agreed to come get it on our way back out of town. We were in a bit of a rush to get home as our dog was dealing with some stomach issues, so when we went by to grab it I quickly hopped inside. They promptly brought me over a cash refund that contained a handful of change, which surprised me because I was expecting a card machine as I had paid with card, but it looked to be about right so I left and got into the car with my cash in hand. When I went to put the money in my wallet I noticed they had only given me the price of the dish, not the price plus GST. It was only about 70 cents, and I just wanted this weird experience to be over and get the dog home, so we left. It absolutely could have been an innocent mistake, but in combination to missing items in our order and dishes served Very differently from what is listed in their menu, I had a hard time feeling like this was a pleasant experience. We are in Lethbridge often but overall, we won't be coming back when we visit town. Too many unknown variables that really shouldn't be so, and it was such a strange...
Read moreI HATE to write a bad review because I am not one of those people to say anything unless something was really bad. There are alot of things that were pretty awful though, like the service was horrid (this happened last night). We had to ask for someone to take our drink and food orders, and no one even came to ask how the food was. The food was okay, I honestly can say the only item that was really yummy was the Garlic Naan. I think the icing on the cake though was that there was a staple in my coconut rice, yes a staple. We actually had to flag someone down to tell them and when we did the lady had a pretty substantial language barrier and did not understand what we were saying. Actually the server and a few different people who had helped us previously did. Anyways that seriously wasn't a big deal, it just didn't help with the frustration we were already dealing with. Fast forward, a gentleman comes by regarding the staple in my food, apologizes and says he will make me new food and won't charge me for my meal. How a staple got into food though? Makes no sense. I believe he said they had their food unboxing packing area in the kitchen. Why though? We finally get our bills after waiting again, and he gives me my receipt to pay for the coconut rice (I was fine paying for my drink), I told him I thought I didn't have to pay for my meal and he told me something which made no sense, but I wasn't going to fight it because I was so done at this point. Oh and they never actually made me a new meal by the way. My friends also did not have great food quality either, regardless we will not be coming back or recommending this place. Sorry to complain and for the long message. But this was a terrible...
Read moreProbably the worst service I have ever experienced in Lethbridge. Our table had two servers, but no where to be found. The first server took our order but did not seem familiar with the menu. When we received our food, the order was wrong and the second server argued with us. No one asked how our food was, no one asked if we wanted another drink and no one asked if we wanted dessert. We had to wave over someone who was clearing tables just to get some assistance, only to realize a language barrier was so great she didn’t understand we were simply asking for help. Finally we waved over the gentleman behind the bar to help us and he kindly asked us what we had ordered so he could put it on separate bills. Then after some time, our second server came back to the table and asked us to do the same all over again. He left us with the interact machines all cued up to our totals, even before giving us all our bills. We were there for 2 hours, despite ordering simple, one course items. Much of the time was spent waiting for someone to help us.
One of my friends had something terribly wrong with her meal, and the server had refused to comp her meal completely, even after all of the horrible customer experience we were having.
Upon watching other tables, we had also noted that servers had been giving excessive to-go containers out. The customers would rifle through the sizes they wanted, and left the remaining ones at the table. We watched the servers place the unused containers back on the pile to give away again….even though they had been touched by multiple other people.
I would recommend finding literally any another Indian restaurant when the...
