Sonder Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Lethbridge

All the aesthetic and price of a good cafe with none of the substance. Bland mediocre food. My latte was just steamed milk with no tea, and my waffles were served with frozen fruit that had been microwaved and still cold in the middle. Nice staff, too bad the owners are clearly making poor decisions about what they actually want to serve to customers for dollar value. White paint, houseplants, and wooden counters don't automatically make a place good. Very disappointing.

Edit - visited for a second time after friends who enjoy it here convinced me maybe I had had some bad luck. Tried a friend's coffee and saw the appeal. However, my own order was still as low quality as before. Tried a chai, as opposed to the matcha latte I had tried previously. Still just warm milk with barely any tea, and served in a glass so it lost heat extremely quickly. Waffles were served with reheated frozen fruit again, although this time at least thawed in the middle. Very unlikely to return. Serious weak points in the menu for customers that get anything...

Generally I had a great experience here. The space was beautiful, open, and lots of light. It’s self-serve (order at the counter, pay, then find a seat). The food was excellent and the coffee was great. I got two different waffles. One was the cinnamon sugar waffle and the other one was the banana and whip waffle—they both had great flavour. The cinnamon sugar waffle would have been quite dry had I not used some of the whipped cream from the banana waffle. My partner got the blue matcha London fog which he enjoyed. He got the breakfast sandwich which tasted great but was very messy and runny. Overall really great. The only thing that would’ve made it better was if the staff was more diligent on cleaning the tables. We had to ask for a cloth to wipe ours down. And, I think their set up with numbered wooden blocks to know where to take the food isn’t as efficient as it could be. Nice vibes and decors. Servers are cheerful and helpful. The mocha is delicious, espresso-chocolate balanced, with the right sweetness which is missing in the other cafes I visited.

They have an interesting beverages with colourful blue creamy surface. I didn’t try it but it looked nice!

I bought a bag of coffee beans (Colombia Exotic Toledo and will try it). The person in front of me in the cashier line told me that he works there and offered me his place in line since I am only buying the coffee beans. He asked whether I have questions regarding the coffee. He was knowledgeable and gave me nice information about the coffee, its roast level and in what it is used (drip, espresso, etc.) The cashier was nice and offered to grind the beans.
