"I recently visited Yalakom BC in the late summer and had an amazing time exploring the area. The Yalacom Valley offers breathtaking views and is known for its stunning landscapes. During my trip, I visited a dear friend and we had dinner together at Totem Restaurant. One of the highlights of my trip was having dinner at Totem Chinese Western Restaurant. The delicious meal I had was reminiscent of dinner in my hometown in Saskatchewan where I grew up eating Chinese western cooking that I loved. My all time favorite has been sweet and sour pork with rice. Service was friendly and family atmosphere.
Totem is located on Main Street Lillooet and is on the way to to Yalakom Provincial Park, which provides extensive representation of the Camelsfoot Range . The park protects the whole of the undeveloped basin of Yalakom Creek where I found a namesake Yalakom stone, and much of Nine Mile Ridge. It has a landscape of old-growth, dry and riparian forest as well as high elevation aspen stands, alpine grasslands, and krumholz forest . The park also contains multiple California bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and mule deer migration corridors .
Another memorable experience was swimming with my friend in Pavillion lake at Marble Canyon. The crystal-clear waters of the lake provide an excellent opportunity to cool off and relax amidst nature’s beauty. Overall, I had an amazing time exploring Lillouett, Pavilion and Yalokam BC and creating beautiful memories. I would highly recommend visiting Lilouett to anyone who loves nature...
Read moreA Chinese buffet under $20? In this economy?! When I saw this on the maps as were deciding our first meal in our first visit to Lillooet (lots of firsts!) I thought the information must be outdated. What a pleasant surprise it was when we walked in to a fully stocked buffet and a cozy atmosphere 😋
The owners (I assume the husband and wife?) that greeted us were extremely kind and accommodating. They sat us right away and offered to take our plates away for new ones everytime we were heading back to the food station for more (we were happy to reuse our used plates to stock up!). The prices, I don’t need to speak more about it, is EXTREMELY kind and affordable. I feel like they are running the business purely out of the joy of it 😂🤭💛
The food was hot consistently and they kept refilling it throughout the night- fresh unlike the other ones we’ve been to where you can clearly see that the food has been out and stale for a long time. That’s what happens when you have a yummy, smaller selection as opposed to 20+ dishes with lower quality in other buffets.
Must visit when you’re in Lillooet, as a matter of fact, I think we might go back for dinner again...
Read moreWe had a delicious meal at the restaurant, Schezwan chicken & wor won ton soup. The soup broth was flavourful & there was a very generous portion of won tons, bbq pork, chicken & shrimp. Also, the broccoli was perfect, not overcooked. The Schezwan chicken had a nice element of heat &, again, the veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, celery, carrot) were perfectly cooked. There was also a very reasonably priced ($18) buffet that seemed to be popular with diners. The selection of items looked varied & the dishes seemed to be replenished quite regularly. The service was friendly, welcoming & prompt. It was a really nice meal & I would recommend...
