I really didn’t want to write this review because I had high hopes for this place. Growing up in Miami, I developed a deep love for Hispanic food, and when I first found Bistro l’Arepa, I was so excited. Their menu was exactly what I was craving.
I’ve been ordering from them for years, and everything was always great—until recently. My last five or six orders have been such a downgrade compared to before, both in quality and portion sizes. I’ve never dined in, so I won’t comment on the atmosphere or service, but the food itself has definitely changed, and not for the better.
The chicharrón, in particular, is disappointing now. They used to serve the white sauce separately in a container, but now they drizzle it all over, which completely changes the experience. And instead of preparing the pork belly properly, it feels like they’re just deep-frying it, which takes away from the texture and flavor it’s supposed to have.
The biggest letdown, though, has been the Bandeja Paisa. My last two times ordering it, it just didn’t taste right. It wasn’t that the food had gone bad—it just wasn’t good. It felt like a completely different cook was in the kitchen, and not in a good way.
I really hope they figure things out because I used to love this place, but for now, I’ll be looking elsewhere for my fix. Maybe I’ll give them another shot in the future, but as of now, I won’t be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bistro La Arepa, a fantastic Venezuelan restaurant. I must say that I had an absolutely wonderful experience, thanks in large part to the outstanding service provided by Robin.
Now, let's talk about the food. My dining companion and I started off with the cachapa with cochino frito, which was nothing short of spectacular. The corn pancake was perfectly cooked and the pork was crispy and delicious. We also tried three different types of empanadas - one with cheese, one with chicken, and one with beef. Each one was better than the last, with a savory filling and a flaky crust.
Finally, we indulged in the tres leches cake for dessert, which was a highlight of the meal. Moist, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness - it was the perfect end to an amazing dining experience.
Overall, I cannot recommend Bistro La Arepa enough. The food was top-notch and the service provided by Robin was truly exceptional. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and give it a try - you...
Read moreThe food was ok a bit pricey but not exaggerated. I got the bandeja Paisa.the arrepas were fried which is not the best choice the frijoles were canned we did not get the carne molida but litel slices of beef the rice was not verry fresh the chorizo was more like a sausage type but verry tasty the chicharron was fantastic the tajadas de maduro were OK overall they took ingredients from there regular Venezuelans dishes and tried to have a Colombian look a like over all it was ok .... It's a good idea to have some colombia dishes in a old colombia restaurant but if you counting on keeping the old clientèle pls bringing your prices down a notch and at least have fresh food not canned
I won't recommend too any Colombianos but if you like to try something different ...
