A Prairie Gem: Classic Chinese Cuisine in a Historic Setting This historic Chinese restaurant in the heart of Maple Creek is the quintessential prairie family-run spot, serving up all the North American Chinese favorites in an unpretentious setting. Housed in a 100-year-old building, it retains much of its original charm—though it hasn’t seen many renovations, which has both its pros and cons. The décor is simple, and the bathrooms may present challenges for those with mobility issues, but the real magic lies in the warm service and fantastic food. I had the veggie and shrimp wonton soup, and even the small portion was huge and satisfying—loaded with fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked wontons, and a flavorful broth. And because this is the prairies, you can’t skip the homemade pie for dessert! Excellent service, hearty portions, and plenty of street parking make this a must-visit for those who value great food over fancy decor.

This is a little gem of I ever did find one. The service was awesome, polite, and very helpful. Quick to see if we needed anything and how the kids were doing. They have a good sized menu of both Western and Chinese food. The kids went with chicken fingers and chicken nuggets. Both kids were super happy with them. We went with the large Ginger beef, fried rice, and lemon chicken. We went with this thinking we would have leftovers. Well the giant plates came out, and it was so good we cleaned em up. Yikes, but it was so good. And all that food for like $10 a plate. Absolutely great value for your money. We had an early dinner so there wasn't many customers at the time, but as we were there the nice thing to see were all the locals just walk in and take their preferred table. Ordering up the regular what ever it was. We had a great experience and without a doubt we would return.

The owner of the local campground said that this place served Chinese food as if it was 1950, so we had to check it out. And it was! As soon as you walk in, you feel like time has stood still. The menu is 1/2 Chinese, 1/2 “regular”, as in burgers and breakfast items. Since we didn’t want leftovers, did want Chinese, and wanted to channel the 1950 vibe, we got 2 different dinners for one, complete with fluorescent red sauce. They were great.

This restaurant deserves NO stars and no customers

While driving through town, we stopped for lunch

The chinese food tasted old- it was tough and tasted microwaved. We barely ate any.

The kids and I ordered hamburgers (how to do screw up a burger?!)

The burger was soggy, the mushrooms on it uncooked and the meat tasted like a mystery meat.

It was mushy and tasted horrendous.

I was scared to eat it, and sent it back after 2 bites.

The loud, obnoxious waitress seemed mad and offended (she was kinda scary)

Ripped the burger away, while yelling in broken english how her food is good and the burger was cooked good and that we are picky and nobody else complained. Then proceeded to yell with the cook in the back in Chinese (i'd imagine complaining about us)

At this point, the kids had tasted their burgers and everyone was grossed out and I just wanted to leave.

I have never before, in my life, sent food back and we are definitely not picky eaters.

The icing on the cake was when I went to pay the bill, I said I didnt think I should pay for at least 2 of the untouched burgers.

She proceeded to yell again, so I paid the $64 and left, hungry and very upset.

Awhile later we all felt nauseated and had diaherra, from only a few bites.

I will be filing a report with a health inspector.

This place is garbage and should...
