I’ve been craving Chaoshan beef hot pot for a long time, and I finally had a chance to enjoy it. However, I have to say I was somewhat disappointed.
Aside from the snowflake wagyu and a certain cut of beef tendon (which I’m not entirely sure about), the other cuts of beef were not very flavorful. The rice noodles were okay, but a bit brittle, which is typical for this style.
The highlight for me was definitely the beef balls; you could tell they were handmade and had a nice, beefy aroma. However, they weren’t as juicy and springy as I had expected.
Unfortunately, the seasonings were a major letdown. They were extremely salty. The soy sauce with green pepper—“the traditional Guangdong style” sauce—seemed to have dark soy sauce added, giving it an unusually dark color and flavor.
After finishing the hot pot, my mouth felt really dry. I believe the salty seasonings were the culprit. I’ve never experienced a Cantonese hot pot that left me feeling so...
Read moreI went to this hotpot on December 15, the first day of tax break. It was raining the whole day. We were excited because it seemed like a cozy restaurant with not so many people (which can be good if you are in the mood for quietness) The first thing I noticed was how dismissive servers were toward customers (me) The girl server was glaring at me when I took the pictures. Maybe they had a hard time on the first day of tax break.
The food was alright. Portion is small and expensive (180$ without taxes for 2 people) When it was time to pack, the guy server tossed a plastic bag for veggies and not willing to give more boxes. Again, maybe they were unhappy on the sale that day but I think by charging 180$ plus, we deserved more than that.
Not recommend. There are more affordable hot pot restaurants everywhere with...
Read moreThe food was overall average but pricy than we expected after our experiences.
We had dinner with 4 friends, ordered lots of their beef from various part. The best was the beef ball actually. They do have some info about how many sec you will need to “hotpot” the beef to get the best taste.
I didn’t like the way they offered bone marrow it’s like cooking some raw bone marrow that offering to your fur kid for chewing or cleansing their teeth. ( no offense coz I literally will cook for them)
The sesame mixed noodle was just instant noodles adding extra sesame sauce.
The environment is clean and staffs are polite and they offered very quick service.
Would not really recommend unless you had nothing much...
