Was never impressed with the service but love eating this kind of food and also not too much choice in Markham. I normally drop by first thing in the morning and the manager knows me very well? yes, I'm the CHINESE man that comes in his work truck for the two mutton rolls and masala tea!! Today I felt like eating masala dosa on my day off, dropped by in the afternoon. I work in service industry and is very well aware of "social distancing", I waited in the square marked since there was an Indian man being served. When he was done I stepped in front of the register, "same spot as the previous customer, to pay for my order as well as wanted some ready made snacks. The staff VERY rudely and abruptly gestured with his palm that I need to back off? Remember it is the same spot and there is a wide counter/register between the staff and customer. He did not even have the decency to speak up and was immediately interrupted with checking the online order that just came through the tablet. Picture this, his rubber gloves were on all the time, he used it for the last customer, used it to operate the registers and tablet! BTW! I had moved a foot away from where the previous INDIAN customer had stood and told him my ready made snack, even after his bad ILLITERATE ATTITUDE. Even then he said not a single word? Guess what, he shoves his dirty gloves into the paper bag to open it up! BUT uses the metal tong to pick the order. I should had said something then! What got me to loose my PATIENCE was when he refuses to take my cash, I would normally and very often in the past used credit cards. I asked him if they stopped taking cash and where was the notice? His response was not better than his abrupt attitude that made me FLIP which I normally have better control. I take his attitude very unprofessional and illiterate. I know this all stems down to his mentality of where the virus came from. I based this from my observation of his reaction towards ME which was different compared to the previous customer. If the manager/owner who lives in Sutton is reading this, please educate your staff and I'm sorry to say this my friend, I will not be coming back AGAIN! Irony of this, I come from your motherland TOO! Before writing this review my first time reading the poor one, sorry to say most of them are...
Read moreGlad this place opened again after it was renovated. They definitely downsized the restaurant. The food is good, flavorful and they dont cheap out on the quantity for the price. They definitely have catered to a more diverse customer base which is why the food lacks in spice. Even when I asked for extra spicy it was still just barely spicy. Regardless the food is still good and rich full of flavour. Ordering here is a nightmare as the restuarant is unorganized and often people dont know which lineup to stand in. I've waited 10 mins in line just to see someone who walked in 30 seconds ago get served before me. Makes no sense. They would get 5 stars if they figured out how to manage their customers.
06/04/2023 - this place has become much worse, prices are double and they can't even get my order right for a second time in a row. Not...
Read moreWas disappointed with my visit as my understanding was that this was the flagship of this chain. No issues with service per se as staff were fine. It was the prices or 'deals' that I felt were off. Having visited the Babu off of Sheppard (near McCowan) I thought the prices here were substantially higher and I am not sure why. There are usually combo deals that I am able to get at the Sheppard location that I was not able to get here. Short order items were also more expensive. Lastly, (I suppose this is picky) the short order (roti wraps, potato balls) and (eggplant dish) items didn't taste the same (ie completely different flavour) from what I have come to expect from Babu (which is usually excellent). The place was spotless and people were respectful of COVID protocols - I just wish the food and option...
