The Dragon BBQ Bar — Restaurant in Markham

Ended up dining at this restaurant by accident. The menu wasn't particularly North American friendly, nor were we their target market, but we decided to give it a try. Your order was placed via a tablet, and I ordered for myself and my wife. We ordered one shrimp skewer, an order of fried rice, pan-fried bok choy with pork lard, an order of chicken bones, and an order of lamb skewers.

The food was outstanding! the rice was smokey, yet the egg was delicately cooked, and the flavour was easily the best fried rice I have ever tasted. The chicken bones dish was served cold, which I didn't expect but was, nonetheless, delicious. The chicken bones were boldly spiced but still had a delicate mix of flavours that indicated there were true masters of their craft in the kitchen. This dish would have been the highlight if not for the bok choy and crispy pork lard. Simply Perfection. Both the shrimp and Lamb skewers were excellent and were both generous portions. I have often lamented that there aren't many good places to eat anymore. This dining experience was the best I have had in a long long time!

I also want to mention the service. it was clear that we were a little uncomfortable with some of the dishes. My wife, in particular, is a no-chopstick kind of girl! The wait staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and assisted us on several occasions without ever being asked. The excellent service was the crown of a memorable dining experience.

We came to this restaurant to join our friends for dinner and were immediately met with an unpleasant experience. There was only one empty chair at the table, so we politely requested two more — one for ourselves and one for our small dog in a carrier.

Instead of assisting or even acknowledging the request with basic courtesy, she pointed at the single chair with an annoyed expression and said nothing. Her body language was dismissive, and she looked at me as though I was being difficult, even appearing irritated that I was standing in her way. I calmly repeated that we needed two extra chairs and explained that one was for the dog’s carrier. She didn’t respond at all — no words, just an exaggerated eye-roll and a disdainful look. At that point, I turned to another employee for help. Before I could say much, the original employee yelled at me asking why I was being so impatient — which was completely unwarranted and shocking!! I was shocked at the tone and volume, especially since I had made my request quietly and respectfully. I asked her directly, “Is this the kind of service I should expect at this restaurant?” She didn’t apologize or explain, but eventually brought the chairs — one at a time, making it clear with her body language that she was doing it reluctantly.

It’s unfortunate because we were looking forward to a nice evening with friends, but the staff’s behavior left a very sour taste. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to others who value basic courtesy and...

The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance with tasteful decor, and the food offers a good variety with customizable spice levels. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for their service.

While I understand that working late hours can be tiring, one of the younger male staff members made it VERY clear that he was not interested in engaging with guests. I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt, assuming he was having a rough shift. That changed quickly when I asked him a simple question and was met with a dismissive hand gesture as he walked away mid-sentence to another table.

We had ordered a beer tower that arrived warm and flat, so naturally, we tried to inquire about it. Unfortunately, that same server didn’t find it worth his time to respond. Throughout the evening, he consistently avoided eye contact, cut conversations short, and even gave us an eye roll.
