Riverview Chipstand — Restaurant in Mattawa

I'm not an expert but I have eaten at my share of chip stands. And this one's kind of a Mattawa institution. When stopping at a chip stand, I usually expect cheaply priced items made from frozen ingredients, or premium priced items made from fresh ingredients. Rivreview Chipstand unfortunately offers frozen food at premium prices. I will not be stopping there again; next time I will try the tiny-hole-in-the-wall chip stand next to the Voyageur Inn...

A place I have conscious memory of coming to since the 80's, Riverview offers great burgers, hot dogs, fries, and of course, poutine, all on a lovely setting overlooking the shores of the Ottawa river and across to wild Quebec. I was fortunate to be able to sate my culinary desires just a few days ago. For the first time in two years, I was pleased to see my old Mattawa poutinery had survived...

Nice place, super friendly, lovely view of the river and a well set up picnic area. The food was satisfying. Since it was our first visit we ordered a bacon cheeseburger, with everything on it, and a side of fries, this is our measuring stick for all chip stands. All acceptable, and fill the gap. The bun fell apart, so maybe toasting it, or a more sturdy bread would do better. Pretty darn...
