This was my second visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately, it will be my last. Our group of 21 people had made a reservation in advance. During the booking call, I felt like I was the one providing all the details without any genuine engagement from the person on the phone. She didn’t sound happy that we were coming, and there was no greeting, no “thank you” — nothing welcoming.
We arrived on time, placed our orders, and then waited over an hour for our food to arrive. Only one person was serving the entire restaurant. While she did her basic job, there was no smile, no friendliness — just the bare minimum.
As for the food, it was very disappointing. My butter chicken had no flavour, and the chicken pieces were a bit tough to chew. One person from our group ordered lamb curry, which was full of bones. The tandoori chicken was dry, burnt, and tasted like it had been pre-cooked, refrigerated, and reheated — certainly not fresh. The biryani rice was not fluffy, and my wife’s lamb biryani even had a lump of plain white rice, showing it wasn’t properly mixed. No flavour at all.
On top of that, the washroom didn’t even have paper towels. When I mentioned these issues to the server, her response was not friendly.
I ate here in 2024, and at that time, both the food and service were excellent. The owner and cook are apparently the same, but something has gone seriously downhill within a year. Sadly, I won’t be...
Read moreOur recent family visit to Namaste Indian Restaurant in Medicine Hat was a delightful culinary stop. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon with our two children (ages 7 and 1), my wife, and my parents, and were pleasantly surprised by the experience.
We enjoyed the comprehensive Non-Veg Thali, rich and flavorful Chicken Tikka Masala, and warm, fresh roti. Every dish was genuinely tasty, and the portion sizes were just right – satisfying for adults and manageable for sharing with the kids. It was a bit surprising to find the restaurant quiet on a Saturday afternoon, but this actually made for a relaxed and comfortable dining experience for our multi-generational group. The serene atmosphere was especially helpful with a little one in tow. Namaste Indian Restaurant is an ideal choice for families traveling through Medicine Hat, especially those on the Trans-Canada Highway 1 looking for a delicious and accommodating meal. If you're craving authentic Indian cuisine in a relaxed setting, this is definitely a place to consider for your...
Read moreThe Chicken Biryani was beautifully presented. The portion was enough for 2. Not realizing this we ordered 2, one for each of us. The server/hostess was lovely. The problem is, it was so spicy hot we could not eat it. Having ordered the dish in the past, I inquired of the hostess (before we were seated that we did not want spicy/hot food, but mild. We enjoyed an order of delicious Butter Naan while we waited. I reminded her again before she took the order to the kitchen. We tried to eat it adding Cucumber sauce and drinking water. Finally we told the server. She said she'd have it remade. I said only to remake one serving and had her remove the 2. I can only think the Chef wanted to retaliate. The dish came, it was so Salty, it crunched in our teeth. We left it uneaten. I was so disappointed. The worst part, my tongue burned and sides blistered for 2 days. From the expression on the lovely servers face, the kitchen experience for her was difficult when asking to remake the dish. So...
