Banh a'Mi — Restaurant in Milton

I was craving Vietnamese food and there really isn't any options in North Mississauga, so I did a quick search and decided to give Banhmister a try. I went on a weekday shortly after they opened at 11am and I was the only customer. The corner unit of the plaza gave ample sunlight to the clean white space. There was a QR code for you to scan and place your order, but a girl came out from the kitchen to take my order after I walked in.

I ordered the Signature Vermicelli and it came with bbq pork (thin slices that were juicy and not dry), pork sausage (this came as 4 meatballs on a stick, super flavourful), spring roll (nice and crispy), peanuts and fish sauce. It felt like there were more meats and toppings than vermicelli noodles! My only 2 cons are the large leafy greens (think mixed green salad, they should've cut them up into thinner pieces as it was hard shoving large leaves into my mouth with chopsticks) and the fish sauce was too acidic and sour for my liking. Unsure if today was a bad day for them but I had a very disappointing experience today with this establishment. What went awry: I ordered on uber only to have them cancel on me 5 mins prior to the delivery time...So I drove to the store. My order was incorrect (I ordered a BBQ pork banh mi, chicken banh mi and spring rolls). I instead got a beef banh mi instead. There are very specific things that make a banh mi, a banh mi. Those being...crusty french bread, pate and vietnamese mayo, and pickled vegetables and cilantro on top. Both my sandwiches lacked all of the aforementioned prerequisites to banh mi. The bread was traditional portuguese bread, there was no pate and mayo was sparse, and for some reason the pickled vegetables were put into the sandwich first, so by the time I unwrapped and ate my sandwich it had completed soaked through the sandwich bread leaving me with a soggy sandwich.

Went to the shop and saw they had a Bánh mì with pop combo and Vietnamese Vermicelli Noodle Bowl combo with ice coffee combo which I thought were of great value. Ordered one of each for take out. The food came within 10 minutes of waiting. I took a can of drink from the fridge which was not on their pop list but they were nice enough to allow it. And they gave me an extra helping of the noodle sauce which I requested for at no additional cost to me. Needless to say, I was very delighted with the service.

And just as important, the food was excellent. My wife was very happy with the Bánh mì as she found the grilled pork and fillings to be very tasty packed into a nice baguette and of sufficient quantity for dinner. I enjoyed the Vietnamese Vermicelli Noodle Bowl with a generous helping of grilled pork, Vietnamese roll, sausage, vegetable and vermicelli soaked in the tasty fish sauce.
