A very frustrating experience and near the end they turned off the heat on the patio so we would all leave. I had phoned in weeks prior to make a reservation as we had a larger party (at the time 18 and turned into 12) coming in for a surprise birthday. My friends arrive first and immediately phone me saying they don't have our reservation in the books and we would have to wait at least on hour to be seated even though the ENTIRE party was already standing at the door. Since I have a couple years of experience in restaurant work I definitely understand on their end how flustering and annoying a seemingly 'walk in of 15' could be but at the same time I did not want my friends to sit in the cold so they compromised with us and fit us all in a section on the patio which I honestly had no issues with. They had told our table dessert would be free for the table as a sorry for the issue (which later ended up being another miscommunication on their end but the manager had fixed it) and then we were later promised a discounted amount on our bills -- which again we didn't receive and had to bother the servers once more to correct it. One of our meals didn't come out at all and another came out wrong. They fixed it, which is where you'd think I'd leave at least a 4 star review, but knowing how restaurants work and restaurant chatter as I work in one, I began to notice little rude things they began doing. Our server never came back to our table (except to drop our bills) after we raised our concerns, we could literally see people at the front desk pointing at us as though they were making remarks on how frustrating we came off, they turned off the heat in only our section before we had even completed all our payments and left the restaurant because they wanted us to leave sooner (a trick I know restaurants really do play) which was immediately noticed as we had expressed how some people were feeling very cold and they said they'd try to turn on another heat fixture for us and never did which caused us to having to ask for more blankets. We were not intending to be rude, and I still hope no one interpreted it this way but honestly I was just so frustrated. I appreciate them honouring our slightly discounted bill and working around the dessert (even though we had to pester them about things THEY offered US) but by the time it all happened it wasn't even about that anymore it was just the distasteful experience. I had never been to Browns Mission before and never intend on returning. I would say just go to any other location; I've never had such an issue like this at any other Browns or restaurant in general. By the end I just felt like a giant nuisance for having to even speak to...
Read moreI thought that I would have a great experience at Browns Social House Mission but I ended up having the worst experience and service ever. My boyfriend decided to surprise me for a nice dinner that was totally unexpected. I didn't end up bringing my wallet with me because I didn't know we would be going out for dinner. When we arrived we got seated and our waitress asked us if we would like something to drink. I ordered a sangria and my boyfriend ordered a beer. Our waitress asked me for a second piece of ID and I only had one government issued ID on me that was in my boyfriends wallet. (My BC Identity Card) specified that I was over 18 years of age. I kindly explained to her that I dont have my wallet because this was unexpected and my government ID was the only thing that I had. Our waitress rudely refused me a drink because I didn't have a second piece of ID on me and then asked my boyfriend if he wanted a drink and not asking him for ID. I thought that was very rude and it ruined the mood. So my boyfriend and I got up and decided to leave. Our waitress just stood there and rolled her eyes at us. Instead we went to Milestones and we had a great experience and service. I ordered a sangria and they didn't ask for my ID and make sure we were happy and having a good time. On Wednesday we were at Cactus and ordered a drink and we didn't get asked for ID and the staff made sure we were having a great time. Don't understand why not having a second piece of ID was made such into a big deal at Browns Social House Mission. So take your business elsewhere. There are many other restaurants that provide better service than Browns Social...
Read moreWent for lunch here the other day and ordered the Baja fish tacos. I asked the server if there was any other sauce besides the Chipotle aioli because I felt that it was going to be too spicy and she suggested to me a garlic aioli and I said that would be great thank you very much can I get that instead. So when my food arrived I noticed that the garlic aioli was in a little pot on the side and that my fish tacos still have the Chipotle aioli all over them. I bit into one and it was kind of okay. I didn't want to eat the other taco because the first one was way too spicy and I knew that it was going to make me sick and upset my stomach what should I actually ended up doing later in the day. I didn't really understand why when I made a request to not have the Chipotle aioli on my tacos they were still drizzled if not even more so all over my tacos and the garlic aioli was on the side. In the future when a customer is asking if something is spicy and something is recommended in its place it should be put onto the taco not onto the side or the item that they're asking unless they actually request to have it on the side. I will not be returning to this location. I also found that the service was a bit of a letdown for the restaurant not being that busy and wished that our server had been a bit more attentive. Also when I ordered my ginger ale my glass came half full and even though it had ice in it it had minimal ice and was warm so I didn't understand what that was about either. Anyways all in all the food was a letdown and I was hugely disappointed in the...
