Being generous, I am giving Masrawy 2 stars just for the food, I can't complain. It was very good, and for a fair price. Customer service, that is another story. I ordered take out over the phone on Friday, to be picked up the next day, on Saturday. I have been to the restaurant at least twice in the past, so I am familiar with the plates I ordered. The person who took the order over the phone was very courteous and professional, and spoke perfect English (there was not language barrier, and this is important when you see the way events unfolded). I ordered 2 mixed grill plates, plus one haddock plate. I asked which sides were included in the plate, she suggested half rice and half fries, which was perfect for me. Then I ordered 2 dips, Hummus and Baba Ganoush, and asked if they were included; I was told yes. I also asked if bread was coming with the plate, and I was told yes. I requested to pick up the order the next day at 3:30 pm. On Saturday, I went to pick up the order at the time requested. The person at the cashier asked my name three times to find the order: she was not paying attention, plain and simple. When she finally got my name, she said that the order was for 4:30 pm, not 3:30 pm, so it was not ready at all. I had guests coming home at 4:00, so evidently the person who took the order made a mistake. I explained this to the cashier: she asked me to pay, I told her I needed to see the order before paying. To my dismay, the fries were NOT included, the bread was NOT included, the dips were NOT included, NOT in the plate, NOT in the order. So, the information I got over the phone was completely WRONG. I told the cashier all this, she said that the person who spoke with me over the phone was "new". I replied, "I'm sorry, that is not an excuse"; then she spoke in her language to another cashier who was there, and told her "you deal with her" (she probably thought I did not understand, but oh, surprise, I am from South America, and I studied Languages). That was pretty rude, but at this point I was more concerned to get my order done, and get home to my guests. The second cashier told me she would rush the order to the kitchen, and have it ready in 15 mins or so. We waited much more than that, I ended up paying extra for everything that was not included (fries, bread, dips). I had no choice, it was too late to go somewhere else. Notice: 1) I had the same plate at the restaurant in the past, and EVERYTHING I ordered WAS included (bread, dips, sides). 2) There were people also waiting for pick up when I arrived, and they were not happy at all. Apparently, they had been waiting for a while. In summary, food was overall good. However, with such poor customer service, I will think it twice before going...
Read moreI cannot say enough positive things about my experience at Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen in Mississauga. This restaurant truly exceeded my expectations and deserves a glowing five-star rating.
The highlight of my visit was the exceptional customer service displayed by the owner. My family and I arrived at the restaurant during a busy weekend for an early lunch at noon and it seemed that all the tables were occupied. Initially, we thought we might have to find another place to dine, but just as we were about to leave, the owner noticed my husband walking away… also mumbling.. “I am too hungry to be waiting for food!” lol… predicament!
With a warm and welcoming smile, he approached us and asked if we were looking for a table. When we explained that we were about to leave because the restaurant was packed, he insisted on making arrangements to accommodate us. To our surprise and delight, he quickly arranged a table for us in a cozy corner of the restaurant, ensuring we had a wonderful window seating dining space.
This gesture showcased the owner's dedication to providing a memorable dining experience for everyone who walks through the door. It's evident that he takes great pride in his restaurant and cares deeply about the satisfaction of his guests. Shout out to @Mohamed Saleh!
The dishes we ordered were exceptional. The flavors were authentic and beautifully represented Egyptian cuisine. From the fragrant spices in the Hawaoshi to the succulent grilled kebabs, each dish was a delightful journey for our taste buds.
I like to keep it simple for people who are reading this review to find out what is best to eat…below are the Must Try’s!
Must Try’s:
The staff at Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Despite the restaurant being busy, they made sure we had everything we needed and never rushed us through our meal. Their hospitality added to the overall positive experience.

Read moreThursday, Nov 23, 2023: Ordered Uber Eats delivery to my home from here. Had the Masawry Fusion and upgraded the base meat from chicken to beef (extra $2).
Tasted great, the beef was well spiced. Came with carrots, cranberries, garlic sauce and hot sauce on the side. I added it in and it tasted wonderful.
Will definitely order delivery of this again and try other Egyptian foods from here. I like how this restaurant opens at 10 am, I ordered at 10:15 am and started eating around 10:45 am for an early lunch for a busy day.
2nd visit: Ordered lamb shank on yellow rice for pick up. I paid 50 cents more for garlic but it was not in my order. This is very annoying. More care needs to be taken for ensuring the customer receives everything they bought. The lamb shank was spiced great and tasted tender and juicy though. But missing an item was very annoying.
3rd visit: Had the Masrawy fusion (beef) on rice, haddock fish plate (good crispy fish and chips type haddock, middle eastern style) on fries (crispy western fries), and Egyptian kofta (beef sausage) on nice Egyptian bread.
4th visit: had the Masrawy fusion. Chicken as my meat (I much prefer chicken over beef. The melt in your mouth texture of the chicken complements the rice better). I had all my sauces on the side, and I order pita chips. This was my appetizer, and they taste great while dipping it in the sauces. These pita chips (dark brown) were the perfect level of oiliness and I think they make these in-house? I love these chips. Would get it with my chicken Masrawy fusion every time. Then carrots and cherries on the side too.
6th visit: Ordered for family of 4. Had the Masrawy fusion (chicken on fries) and the Masrawy fusion (beef on rice). Then had haddock on bread (added tomato sauce - great Egyptian style tomato sauce served warm (soup-like). Tastes authentic, like a virgin Caesar but more pickle-y. Could taste the pickles and onions and garlic in the tomato sauce. Then had Egyptian kofta (beef/lamb sausage) on bread. And had pita chips. SK and LN love the pita bread (I think they make this in-house?), and the fresh pita chips. Everything had a sharp and distinct flavour. Very tasty.
7th visit: Ordered just lamb shank. It was good. Nice plump but short lamb shank, well spiced. It was cooked moist and tender with good spices, delivered at a good temperature to eat. Will continue ordering this in future.
Future: Continue ordering lamb shanks. Consider trying: Lamb shank fatta. Lamb shank and cabbage rolls. Chicken panne plate. Shish tawaok. Lamb kabak. Abu Waleed style spicy...
