I recall having visited McAdam's almost ten years ago now, coming away without any strong opinion on it- honestly, it was just mediocre Balkan fare when compared to other options in the city. Then on two more recent visits- one last year, the other last month-, I came away downright turned off of ever going again. The lepinje with kajmak were served room temperature to us both times, and seemed borderline stale both times. The veal soup lacked seasoning. We opted for the mešano meso, each component of which was probably the worst representation of each respective dish I've had in the city, unfortunately. The ground meat stuff, like the čevapi and pljeskavica, quite clearly didn't use a quality meat- I felt like every few bites I was getting gristly-, and just way overcooked, to the point of crumbling (not like other spots, where it's spongey (in a good way) and juicy). The vešalica was similarly overcooked, almost like a hockey puck. I guess the karadordeva was the best thing, but only relatively speaking- far from the best I've had in Toronto/GTA. Service wasn't exactly warm or attentive either, and the atmosphere was just okay- clean, but unspectacular. Sad to say I will not be giving them my business again, nor will I be recommending it to anyone I know. The price is simply far too high for the...
Read moreThe new owners are the ones performing the live entertainment therefore it is the only center piece worth mentioning. However music is very loud so that you may only carry a conversation with the person on your immediate left or right. The one across the table tried to read my lips most of the time. The seating is akin to an Oktoberfest beer hall in order to appease and maximize the music experience. So all in all go there for the music and the rakia (I recommend the apricot and quince). Don’t expect to dance much unless you are prepared to do it on the table, although some people did skirmish near the end of the night when food busing has died down. I won’t talk about the food as it left me with little to write home about. Service is a hit and miss at best. It is what you get when the musicians own the restaurant …. Some like it due to the...
Read moreThis was our first time at this restaurant and we very much enjoyed our experience. Don’t be put off by the fact that the restaurant is in the middle of an industrial mall. Inside, the ambiance was lovely and the Serbian music was really great and added to our experience.
We ordered the Šopska salata (which was delicious) the mixed seafood platter and the crêpes, one with Nutella and strawberries and one with plum jam and walnuts (as recommended by the owner). Everything was cooked to perfection and we were pleasantly surprised that one of the dessert crepes was offered to us on the house. The mixed seafood platter had lemon pepper tilapia, salmon, garlic butterflied shrimp, scallops and pan fried potatoes (which were outstanding) and mixed veggies. We would highly recommend...
