UPDATE: OCT 21: Not even the courtesy to reply!

Update review for visit Sat, Oct 5/24: Down to 1 star!! I was at this location in February and had the best experience with amazing fresh food (see 5/5 review below this one), and was very impressed with the Prime Rib, so I convinced 2 out of town friends to join me for dinner last night to try this amazing food. As per always, we were greeted with friendly smiles (still 5/5 for service). After getting our appetizers and sat down at our table to eat, it seemed a swarm of fruit flies had followed us from the buffet to our table. It was hard to enjoy our food as we kept swooshing them away. After going for our second plate, we all noticed the fruit flies were everywhere, some even landing on the food trays! That grossed us out so bad we all lost our appetites! I insisted we go for the Prime Rib station I was raving about, and as there was an employee there to cut our slices, we didn't notice any flies -probably swooshing them away, so we were excited to eat and enjoy our dish. Well wow what another huge disappointment! The prime rib was overcooked (zero pink), dry as tree bark, and so rough and chewy, our knives couldn't even cut it! It's dinner rush hour on your busiest night - Saturday, why would you be serving your highest paying customers (more expensive weekend evening prices) an inedible chewy dry slab of meat that seemed like it was left out from the night before?! I even went back to give it another chance and grabbed one of the huge meaty rib bones that are usually the tenderest, and as good as it looked, when I bit into it, it was like chewing on leather! I couldn't take another bite from that portion as well. So now all that was left for us to try was the desserts - wow that was even worse! After we each got a dessert plate, we went to different areas of the dessert stations, and within seconds, we simultaneously looked at each other whilst slapping away more fruit flies than dessert options! How does not even one staff member/manager notice such a disgusting issue?!! I can't imagine how many flies people unnoticingly ate that were probably stuck to their food from landing on the hot plates! What's even worse is WHY there are so many fruit flies in the first place?! What do they have rotting so bad back in the kitchen that there are so many flies that follow the food trays out into the food service area?! There were more fruit flies inside that restaurant in an October fall season, than I've ever seen even eating outside in a grassy picnic area on a hot summer day! This was literally the worst dining experience any of us have ever had at any restaurant. Maybe they should take 8 out of the 10 staff that happily greeted us when we arrived, and put them in charge of getting rid of the flies/reason they are present. We will never be going back to ANY Mandarin location after all of us being regular customers for decades! I'm shocked the Food Inspectors haven't stepped in to intervene/fine this location! Updated review 5/5 Feb 3-24: Haven't been to this location since before Covid. Prices have gone up substantially ($40 weekend-eve price), but then again so has everything else, so it's understandable. They added special New Years items (including decor - see photos), mostly dim-sum and a few desserts which were ok, but not as great as everything else - which has gone up in quality and taste substantially, and thus my increase from 4 to 5 stars. The sashimi wasn't the greatest either (didn't taste/smell great/fresh) except for the salmon, which was excellent (probably because not many people were trying the less popular sashimi and they had been sitting out for a while). The prime rib was probably the best I've ever had at any upscale...

My wife and I are visiting Toronto for the first time. We are staying in the Mississauga neighborhood. This location of Mandarin is about 10-15 minutes from our hotel. We were asked upon our arrival if we were celebrating an occasion, to which we replied; "Yes, it is our 25th anniversary."

The hostess took us to our table and shared our occasion with our waiter. Even a manager stopped by a few times throughout the evening to ask if we were enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything we hadn't found.

The selection was better than similar buffet restaurants back home. The quality was a little better as well. There were quite a few healthier options, mostly vegetable dishes very lightly sauced, than we are accustomed to seeing at our local places. The sushi was fresh and there were even a few sashimi items. Tuna, salmon, octopus. Each tasted fresh and had very good texture.

After our dinner our waiter made sure we were finished with the buffet. Then he came back with a nicely plated cupcake with candle and a piece of Jello decorated with mini M&Ms. He also took our photo and printed it onto a magnet to give us as a keepsake. When we left the hostess remembered that it is our anniversary and wished us a happy one again. That was impressive that she remembered, considering how busy they were.

The beer was reasonably priced compared to other establishments. The meal price also was very fair. When we return to Toronto we will also return...

We went for my Birthday to Mandarin at the Matheson location. Our table wasn't ready at 5pm when we arrived, so we had to wait. My friend and I ordered drinks for ourselves and it took an hour to get them. Our kids got drinks maybe within a half hr to 45 mins After eating (just under 2 hrs), we were given the bills. We had to clear our own plates, constantly asking for napkins and our drinks at the time and then we're told our time was up at 2 hrs which we were not told we had a time limit when we arrived. Very disappointing as we come to the restaurant all the time. This was for my Birthday and we didn't even sing the Happy Birthday song at that point. I had to ask for them to do it and it was a surprise, even though the hostess asked to see my ID when we arrived (having to have 3 paying adults which we had - but is absolutely ridiculous. Most family's dont necessarily have 3 paying adults, maybe 2 when they come for bdays). The server was there maybe 3 times the whole time we were there, had to get up to get other servers to help with our table, we had about $400 spent

SAMAN was amazing through our experience. He was the only one who was attentive. He should be the one getting all the tips from our 3 bills. Not split. His service was amazing and should...

August 2022 5* Visited the place with friends and kids. Bring a vegetarian, I was initially not sure about this place but I must say that the place is amazing and you can have good experience with family. There is buffets service so you can choose your stuff. If you eat miss than you have so many choices. So what is hit and misses: - Garlic broccoli ***** - Fried rice (with egg) ***** - Veg fried spring roll ***** - Noodles ***** - Fries ***** - Salad bar ***** - Cheese pizza ***** - Desert ***** - Tropical Punch Drink ***** - Shirley Temple Drink ***** - Cotton candy for kids ***** The ambiance was very nice and staff is very nice. The best experience is the fortune cookie in the end. You can make it memorable. The staff maintain very hygiene and gives you wet towel before and after the meals. There is small (very) water area in the restaurant for fish. Kids will love it and they can get cotton candy as well. The place is very accessible and also good for people with special needs. The sitting area is very big so you maintain distance.

I have been to this location before the pandemic, and this is one of the good location they have. However, today that change, I tell you why. It's Sunday 7:30pm dinner, the place is not crazy busy, we were sitted right away. Its along time before closing, but the food trays are kind of empty. I went back 2x, and I didn't see that they did the refill. I have to wait and go back and forth many times before they did a few tray refill, and not every single trays are being refilled. The bbq meat/fish are so dry. The only area that is decent is the dessert table. They are fully stock. We are a party of 10 people, and with that many people dining, they should have a good amount of food supply or are they that slow? Oh no, that's not the case. It seems like they want everyone to be on a diet (by serving less food at a buffet restaurant). I sympathize with the table beside us. They are bigger group and majority men. I will bear my disappointment and guarantee to take my business some place else.
