What fun it is to be able to walk into a Butcher Shop and pick up pre-marinated meet. I had no idea of the existence of this Meat Shop chain until a friend of mine opened up a couple of locations in the East End of the GTA. I have to say, for this being one of the original locations I wasn't very impressed with the quality or level of service I received. First of all, Warraich Meats charges a premium on their marinated meats and rightfully so if they deliver a higher quality of product. I've recently moved to the Mississauga area and I find the following issues
Cuts of meat are not very clean for the price that charge meaning you'll find a lot of cartilage in their cuts. Where as in my colleagues establishment his staff provides a higher quality of cuts, so naturally I was under the impression that the quality would be exactly the same at every location. If you can accept this than there establishment is second to none in the (Halal Meat sector)
I called ahead of time and made an order for take out, when I arrived, they told me they had received no such order and asked if I still wanted them to fulfill my order. I would assume that a customer is usually hungry when they're ordering take out food and exchanging their hard-earned money for outside-food rather than cooking at home.
This location excessively uses salt in their marination, It was very hard to enjoy the food. I thought to give it another try but to no surprise it was once again too salty. Of course I was barbecuing meat for a number of people which all agreed the taste was off when compared to other locations of Warraich and other establishments.
I've been to several locations within Markham, Mississauga and Brampton. Their Markham location is by-far the best I've had.
Though I should be reasonable. I must say, they've created a great Brand and their selection of pre-marinated meats is second to none. I have to say I love the set up of their stores as well. I have referred 10s of friends and clients to Warraich Meats. They are on the pricey side when compared to other butcher shops, but they are a franchise after all and to grow a brand, you cannot compete with lower end prices, you have to create your own price to go along with the Brand you've established. I would gladly pay top dollar as long as my cuts are clean, NOT overly salted and ABSOLUTELY free of cartilage which is usually found in sub-grade fast food restaurants. Step this up and i'll gladly restructure my review to 5 stars....
Read moreOver at this particular location, I’ve had their marinated grouper, marinated paneer and their Shahi Paneer.
Their marinated grouper is well priced for some fresh fish that has been well marinated in various spices, such that you can conveniently toss it onto the pan/grill/oven when you’re home and ready to eat it. I’ve had the marinated grouper straight onto the BBQ and I’ve also had it pan grilled.
Likewise for the marinated paneer which always turns out to be very flavourful when all I do after buying it from the store is simply tossing it onto the BBQ.
Till date, I’ve not been disappointed with their marinated grouper that I bought from this location and the McLaughlin/Williams Parkway store in Brampton.
Although the price of their takeout menu options are actually good for the portion sizes that they give, their shahi paneer at this store has been disappointing. I’ve had it thrice and they always turn out to be too sweet. As such, the shahi paneer is the only cooked dish that I’ve stopped having from their take-out menu.
Nevertheless, I have had other items from their take out menu at the, such as the fish tikka wrap for $6 at the Highway 27/Finch store in Etobicoke. I’ve never been disappointed by the fish tikka wrap, which comes with generous boneless fish tikka pieces in it which makes it value for money.
To sum it up, if I wish to grab an Indian take-out dish/wrap or marinated fish/meat/paneer, any Warraich Meats store would be my...
