In the most objective way the sole reason this establishment warrants a star is due to the hostess that was very hospitable and prepped us a table within a more than reasonable timely fashion. The rest of our experience with a non-existing quality service was pretty much downhill from the moment were were escorted to our seats. We went on April 8th or 9th during the time we experenced severe weather condition with the freezing rain. Some areas were out with no power for several days which generated more than usual traffic to lots of restaurants including Baton rouge. We knew the wait time would be more than usual which is understandable.
However it took more than 15 minutes before we were even aknowledged and offered a simple glass of water after seeing several staff member passing us by. After the fact a staff member was kind enough to let us know he would notify the waiter in charge of the area we were sitting in. Once the waiter made his way to our table he took the order for the drinks which were 2 glasses of water WITHOUT ice with slices of lemon. I also wanted to ask him about something else but he had already took off in a hurry. When he came back 5 minutes later, he brought us 2 glasses of water filled with ice without any lemon. We politely told him he had made a tiny mistake as we didn't want any ice and if it'd be possible to change them. He grabbed both glasses with such force, sigh, rolled his eyes then took off like a mad man. My wife and I were so shocked to the man's reaction and felt the way the evening had already started things were probably not going to get any better with this waiter. Right there and then we decided it'd be best to go eat somewhere else. Check this out....to add insult to the injury, the waiter in question came back seeing us putting our coats on had the nerve to ask us" oh! You're leaving now?" I told him bluntly yes due to his attitude that stunk and his lack of professionalism. He had no sense of customer service at all.
We had issues with this establisment in the past when we took my mom out for diner several years ago. A different waiter back then was extemely rude and couldn't care less about the level of service he had provided on that specific evening. We didn't think we were ever going to give us our business again. Now I know beyond reasonable doubt it wasn't an isolated incident.
Most of the staff is good but there seems to be a pattern the way they do their screening when it comes to hiring classy, professional waiters comparing to other Baton Rouge we had visited in the past throughout the province. Most of the other chains maintain a certain standard accross the board when it comes to the quality of the food, the staff, the cleanliness and most importantly the SERVICE. The one in Anjou is not consistant. It's a hit and miss. For the amont we spend on each visit, we expect nothing but the best. Why should we expect any less when you can get descent but consistant service next door at Zibo. I did say descent. If you want a top of the line at Baton rouge, I highly recommend the one in Lachine Yves Blais street. Amazing. In fact, you should try it a couple times then go back to the one at Anjou. You'll see for your self. As a matter of fact go to any other Baton rouge other than the one in Anjou and chances are more often than not you'll have a better...
Read moreUnfortunately I have nothing good to say. My husband and I usually go every year to celebrate our anniversary, it's tradition, but I think it's time to change. It used to be soo packed, but there was no one...compared to last year. I was shocked & thats when I knew something was up... Food was off, they we're out of baked potatoes....ummm baton rouge and no baked patatoes...doesn't make ANY sense ...the waiter who is probably one of the newest ones because I did not recognize him as I did the others, was cocky and a rude. The only time He was nice was at the end when it was time to pay and leave our tip, I was so ready to leave none, but couldn't do it....it is not in me to do such a thing..DAMN!!!! . NOT pleasant at all & we waited forever for our water. Our dish that we chose (same dish we choose every year) RIBS was not the same without the baked patato & you know what?!?! we had no coleslaw!!!! They gave us no coleslaw!!! Food was Soo cold..ohh we were soo disappointed...it usually takes us aalot to be disappointed..but not this time, sorry. We had already asked for many things, so I didn't make a stink about it but decided to share it here on their reviews because it is really sad that Baton rouge has changed that much in a year and it's really sad that we need to change our yearly tradition for our anniversary elsewhere because I won't be continuing it there that's for sure. I don't want to be rude or harsh I just want to be HONEST and hope for change. The plates were so weak looking :( nothing like it used to look. Staff was so unfriendly..Just one dude atathe entrance was welcoming. Hopefully some eyes will be opened and change will happen because I believe it is needed. Goood luck. Thank you...
Read moreThe food was delicious as ever, and the atmosphere was perfect. However the service left much to be desired, from the minute we arrived we felt rushed by our server to order our drinks and entree and main course all at once, we finished our meal and the server asked if we needed anything else, we began to order our desserts and coffee and even an after dinner drink, but the server cut us off saying "the kitchen and bar is closed last call was a while ago but if you really MUST have your desserts, I suppose I could go get some for you" we said "well don't trouble yourself on our account" and we paid and left. Admittedly we did arrive at about 7:30pm on a Thursday night, had we known they were still operating under pandemic hours we wouldn't have bothered to visit. It wasn't really late when we left, maybe about 9:00pm The restaurant should do a better job of telling their customers when they arrive that the kitchen will close early. We also found it odd that the server would tell us that the kitchen and bar was closed but was laughing with the couple behind us while they began drinking a fresh bottle of wine. I'm in a bind here, I love this restaurant's food but if I'm going to be rushed when I visit, I don't think I'll come back 🤷♂️ or maybe I'll visit a different location In any event, the food was great as always and the ambiance and decor was great too, I just wish we could have stayed longer, we even would have taken our dessert to go but the server seemed to be so anxious for us to leave that we decided not to bother them and we ended up buying our dessert from a vending machine...
