I was very excited when I heard about this restaurant opening in my neighbourhood, since we don't have anything else like it in Tétreaultville. My husband and I had a chance to finally go last night, but were disappointingly underwhelmed. The space was nice. I didn't find it overly noisy as others have commented. The service was excellent, and the owners were also present and serving customers. The menu on the other hand, needs some work. The dishes are small which is expected with this sort of fare, but failed to wow, which made the prices harder to stomach. The Bouchee was a very dry little meatball. The focaccia was nice (although another piece would have been better), but the tomatoes tasted metallic and the two white substances were odd. The perogies were only ok; fortunately the sauces saved the dish. My husband enjoyed his tuna tartar. I really wanted to love my gnocchi dish, but the shrimp wasn't very fresh and the whole thing felt quite heavy. The sorbet would have been so much better if it did not have the sickeningly sweet white foam. And the beet cake really fell flat. Overall, it felt like the dishes were trying too hard. Some green veggies on the menu would also be nice. I'm curious to see what they do with the menu...
Read moreWe ate at this neighborhood bistro a couple of weeks ago. I keep recommending it to friends, so I’m circling back around with a review here. This is a real gem of a place. It’s only been open for three months and has become part of the local scene. The food was creative and excellent. The atmosphere is lively and fun but you can hear the person you’re with. That’s a win. Another win is that they have very friendly, knowledgeable staff. And a lot of staff at a time when many restaurants are struggling. I asked my waiter why and he said it’s because the owner is a great guy to work for. He runs a respectful kitchen, offers a good work environment, etc. Some of the staff came with him from the last place he was a chef, and that speaks volumes for a place, IMO. And if that’s not enough, you can bring your own wine, which is something I always love. So put this on your list before it becomes so popular that it’s hard to get in. It’s a little out-of-the-way if you’re in downtown Montreal, but worth a side trip. And definitely if you’re going to be in that area for the botanical gardens or other things in east Montreal....
Read moreLe Cerf Volant exceeded expectations! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve.
Every dish we tried was a great. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with fresh, high-quality ingredients shining through in every bite. The attention to detail in the presentation and preparation was remarkable. Their menu offers a creative blend of classic and innovative dishes, making it impossible to choose a favorite.
One of the best features? It’s BYOB! This allows you to bring your favorite wine or drink to perfectly complement the amazing dishes. It’s a fantastic touch that makes the experience even more personalized and enjoyable. And let’s not forget the desserts—they were the perfect sweet finale to an extraordinary meal!
Le Cerf Volant is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, this is the place to go. We can’t recommend it...
