Café Gentile is a small coffee shop located in a beautiful area next to a lot of other shops. As soon as we arrived, my friend and I were greeted by the waitress who asked us where we wanted to sit. We decided to have a seat on the outdoor terrace since it was very nice outside. The terrace is very cosy, but small! It makes it hard to have a conversation without hearing everyone else's conversation. Despite that, everything is very beautiful, inside and outside.
As for the food, my friend ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with the small potatoes and I had the avocado toast with a plate of fresh fruit. We also both had iced lattes with almond milk.
The iced lattes were delicious, but only after we asked the waiter to add more almond milk because they felt bitter before that. The coffee was very strong, but very good!
The cream cheese bagel was delicious, filled with smoked salmon and perfectly crunchy. The potatoes were also very good. I'd have to say I was a little bit disappointed with the avocado toast, I thought it was going to be a bigger portion than that, especially for the price. It was very good, just expected it to be bigger. The fresh fruit plate was huge and definitely fresh!
I would recommend this place if you're grabbing coffee on the go or for a little breakfast date with friends or family. The service is very good as well, everything arrived fast and the waiters explained some items on the...
Read moreGot takeout, ate it within 20 mins of pickup and it was mediocre. Steak sandwich was good but unfortunately everything else was dry and lacking...especially the chicken sandwiches. Pastas were the worst part of our order, though the pasta itself had a fantastic texture, the sauces were totally lacking in flavor and abundance in the dish. Not only was it like there hadn’t been enough sauce put, it was lacking the richness and unctuous qualities you associate with rosé and bolognese. I love white bolognese but it was as though someone scattered dry ground beef over the (delicious) rigatoni and forgot about making it a sauce. It wasn’t enjoyable and none of the plates got finished except for the steak sandwich and fries which both were very tasty.
When pastas are priced at over 25 per plate, you expect excellence and satisfaction. Sides were of a very very small quantity for the price. 5 rapini stems with raw garlic for $7? It was a surprise when we opened the containers for sure. Maybe it’s better in the restaurant but during Covid you have to put the same quality out through takeout. Excellent branding and web presence and decent hospitality with order pickup but I don’t think I’ll order...

I went there for breakfast during a week day, and I assume it was too close to noon for them to take a whole table by myself on their small terrasse. The minute I was seated they wanted me out of here; they rushed everything -which is great when you are in a rush-. With the last piece of overburdened toast still in my mouth, I was politely ask if I wanted the bill now or later, with that glare in the waiter eyes saying "come on man, are you really going to seat here at a cafe's table and read? People are coming for lunch!". Reflecting the minimalist service, the breakfast food was barely better than what a toddler could make at home with 2 eggs, 2 toasts and precooked bacon strips -not that it would be safe for a toddler to cook any of that..-. In the end, go there for a rapid expresso, or cappuccino -which I highly recommend- and drink it rapido, throw 5$ on the table and leave!...
