I have been at other l'Oeufrier locations with good service but this was my first visit to this location at Chabanel and I will never go here again. Where do I start. I'll try to keep it short (but how do I keep this short?)....
I ordered my eggs over well; but I received them close to over easy. They call the restaurant l'Oeufrier but theirs eggs are super small.
My husband asked for bacon; but he received sausages instead.
The server asked asked us white or brown bread? We were four people. Two of us asked for white and the other two asked for brown. So, if I do my math right, that would be four white & four brown. Instead we received five bread and only one was a brown bread. They said that they would bring us more but never did.
They gave a tiny container of syrup with each plate and I mean really tiny container of syrup which is smaller than a McDonald's dipping sauce that is to cover my two pancakes, fries, eggs and toast. It was so small that three of us asked for an extra container of syrup. I wanted to ask for more because I love a lot of syrup on everything and that is only when we find out that the really tiny containers of syrup cost $2 extra for each! When I heard this, I quickly said, no do not bring me anymore as I did not want to pay so much and ate my pancakes dryer than usual. It would have been nice if the server had told us of the extra cost at our first request; instead he said that it was common knowledge and that everyone knew of the extra cost....well apparently not since I knew nothing of this sort. He apologized and said he wouldn't charge us for the extra syrup; but when I got the bill, he charged us extra.
This place is extremely noisy. Too much noise between the blenders across from our table, the loud banging from the kitchen further away. It's a small restaurant with not too much space.
Not sure of the parking meter on a Sunday, we asked the server about the parking meters and he said that it's Sunday and parking is free. Well good thing when we left we didn't get any parking ticked because it was not free after 1 pm.
I like service to be with smiling faces. Instead, I am serves with people who seem to not enjoy their jobs and wish they could be elsewhere. It was not very inviting.
No one checked in on us to see if everything was okay.
I don't drink coffee; but even coffee is extra.
Would I recommend this location? No Would I go back? Only if I have no other option.
Management has to look into better training their staff and offering a good customer service so that customer will...
Read moreNo clue what’s going on in the kitchen. They brought me the wrong hamburger from the lunch menu. I brought it to their attention and they explained that they didn’t have what I ordered so they just made up a substitution and hoped I might not notice. No offer was made to rectify the situation totally insulting. Usually I like this place but today kind of ruined it for me. I am tired of places offering a lunch menu separate from the regular menu then having no idea how to make it. The waitress told me there was no soup then all of a sudden there was soup. Next time comp my coffee at least or apologize for the mistake but don’t blame it on the bad weather.
Lol, after the owner replied, I went to the link and got an error message which could not complete the send. Here is what I wrote: if you can't bring the customer what they ordered, you have to ask them if that is o.k with them first. The customer is not allowed to simply short change you on the bill so why is it ok to do it to them on the menu? I ordered the guerre des tuques burger with two smash burger patties specifically because I did not want the other one on the lunch menu. Because you could not find the ingredients according to the waitress and because it was your first day with a new lunch menu, the kitchen simply decided to make me something else and hope I would not notice. The excuse was completely outrageous. I should have received an apology and an offer of immediate correction or at the very least a complimentary coffee. Instead, you opted for a bad review. The waitress also said there was no soup, which I accepted but she then brought me chicken soup without telling me what it was before hand. When the kitchen makes a mistake, I expect them to explain it to me and correct it in my favour. If this happens again, I am taking my cut out of the tip to the waitress. I also asked for no potatoes so my plate was bare with a tiny salad. I suggest increasing the salad portion slightly when the customer can't take any potatoes. When I pay 24.00 for lunch, it needs to be perfect. It's too bad because I would like to eat there more often since it is close to my work but I am not sure I trust the kitchen or the service...
Read moreAmbiance: There was a strip of lights across the restaurant that was flickering the whole time which was hard to ignore. The seats were super old and bits peeled off every time I moved from my seat.
Service: Asked specifically for a dish and confirmed whether that came with sausage, the waitress served the wrong dish. She left the dish on our table, went to the kitchen to order it, someone forgot about the sausage, server came back 15 minutes later with one burnt sausage while the rest of the plate had been sitting cold on our table. Not quite sure why it took so long considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. These things happen sometimes and all the servers in the restaurant seemed to be new.
Management: When we asked for our dish the receipt printer was broken so the manager told her to take a picture of the order screen with her iphone as the official 'receipt'. The picture was missing more than half of our order. We were surprised to see that the manager didn't try to compensate for the wrong dish with a slight discount or at least come to our table to acknowledge the situation, especially considering he walked by our table a lot and we were the only customers.
Overall: I've been to 5 different L'Oeufrier locations because it's the perfect brunch chain for me but this one really killed that winning streak. I can forgive the poorly maintained restaurant and mediocre service, but the quality of food was just so disappointing. I think the chefs were new too??
It was great to not have to wait in line like I usually do for Sunday brunches, but given the quality of food and overall experience, I can see why it's maybe not the go-to brunch spot in the...
