La Baguette Farcie: A Downtown Delight
Nestled in the heart of Montreal's downtown, La Baguette Farcie graces the bustling landscape of Sainte-Catherine Street West with its inviting presence.
While parking may prove a challenge, akin to a game of chance, the treasure that awaits compensates through its proximity to the Place-des-Arts metro station.
Occupying a cozy spot, this restaurant shares its space harmoniously with two compatriots. A modest seating area, accommodating just a handful, strikes a balance between comfort and the recognition that the heartbeat of La Baguette Farcie lies in its takeout prowess.
During my visit, a well-coordinated trio orchestrated a symphony of efficiency, their concerted efforts a testament to their commitment. However, the demand for their delectable offerings is palpable, necessitating a wait of approximately half an hour. Despite the anticipation, their dedication to service is commendable.
The restaurant's focal point is undoubtedly its mastery of pizza and stuffed baguettes. It's worth noting that the stuffed baguette, while not the traditional interpretation, manifests as a delectable rolled dough creation.
Our choice, the Philly Cheesesteak with fries, delivered an experience beyond expectation. The tender steak, smothered in cheese and sauce, showcased a culinary harmony that delights the palate. Complementing this delight were crispy, hot, and impeccably seasoned fries, although the portion size was slightly diminutive.
For those navigating mobility challenges, the restaurant entrance extends a gesture of inclusivity, accessible at sidewalk level.
In sum, La Baguette Farcie unfurls as a downtown gem that radiates with flavor and accessibility. While a brief wait underscores its popularity, the dedication of its staff and the quality of its offerings make it a notable culinary destination. This oasis of taste and inclusiveness merits a robust...
Read moreOh my goodness, what a great pizza, with nice toppings and a perfect, fresh crust. We ordered the marina (shrimp and calamari) pizza, and it was divine. Don't be fooled by the word "sandwich," which does NOT do justice to the mouth-watering fresh-out-of-the-oven "stuffed baguette" with which you will be presented in less than 10 minutes. This 'baguette farcie' is not unlike a calzone, but smaller than most calzones, as it's prepared in a baguette.
Service was efficient. As for where La Baguette Farcie loses points, the restaurant is shared with a noodle place and the space itself is pretty dismal, with no air conditioning to provide relief (especially to hard-working staff standing in front of an oven) on a hot day. The whole space could use a serious overhaul, or at least a good cleaning. There are no tables but a few spots to sit facing the wall. The tiles on which you would lay your food could really use a wipe-down, as could the floor. Given the state of the restaurant's interior, we opted to eat our pizza on a bench on St. Catherine Street. We were very very happy with the product, and would definitely return - hopefully to a nicer-looking...
Read moreWe visited Montreal for the weekend and so this was my son's pick as he wanted to try something new (North African style) fast food. Food was great. We ordered the Philly cheese baguette, chicken baguette and there main wrap (can't remember the name). This is establishment has 3 locations. Be warned....the 2 downtown locations have no parking. So we drive to there main location and plenty of parking but minimal seating. We managed to score a table. Lady working the front counter was very pleasant.
Food was brought to us in a pizza boxes. Very good and cheesy.
Only negative is the price. For a take out like establishment, 3 combos cost $75. I think thats a bit high for a takeout style establishment, no washrooms or place to wash hands. Instead I was directed to cross the street and use the public bathrooms at the park. Lol.
Feedback to owners: You need a bathroom and basic garbage bins, If you are going to charge and price your meals as though you are a sit in restaurant. Or perhaps lower your prices to reflect your service.
Other than that, I won't argue on the quality and taste....
