La Maison Ho — Restaurant in Montreal

Delivery is a waste of time, even tho i literally live across the street, after 3 hours i had to go get the cold meal and all they had to offer was a pickup reduction on the price... Another time i ordered chow mein and chop suey, guess what, i got 2 dishes of the same thing, and was told their chow mein does not contain noodles but replaced with chop suey??? So why two sections in the menu??? Also, if you order "a la carte", and your order is ready and waiting on the counter, they will call out everyone's else's #6 for pickup, leaving you waiting for an hour, even thought you paid 3 times more for same proportions and then asking you paid for it "again"? Proportions aren't always the same either, seems they use whatever container they have on hand... Nothing on the menu containing the infamous black bean sauce. The shrimp they use is the precook cocktail stuff, reheated to rubber texture and uncleaned... Not a placed i would eat on site as the tables and chairs are stacked wall to wall leaving no room for people to get through, must be the reason i never see anyone eating there other than the staff... Unfortunately, all other Chinese restaurants in the area have disappeared... two thumbs down......

Service is a bit slow but hey, you can't rush perfection. It's always well worth the wait, the staff is friendly, and the prices are pretty good. I also really like that the dining area is rarely full because most people tend to pick up or have their food delivered, which makes for a less stressful dining experience. It leaves you free to have a nice conversation with your company void of yelling over loud music or other patrons while enjoying nice food without the after dinner clean-up. if the place would be cleaner I probably would have gotten five stars. This is one of those typical hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop kind of Chinese food places for the food is great but the decor is typical and the washrooms are a nightmare. I didn't have time to take a picture of the food as it was devoured too quickly. We went there with a party of 12 on a Saturday evening and they were able to seat all of us.
