La Planète Oeuf — Restaurant in Montreal

My family and I travelled as a group (10 adults 3 kids )a few weeks ago from Toronto. Very tired we decided to dine here for breakfast. They quickly accommodated us. First frustrating thing was Menu was not in English. At least have a few in English for travellers that don’t speak fluent French. After all that time spent trying to translate food was mediocre nothing special. What ruined the whole experience for us was the waiter that served us. Now although her service was great up until the bill payment. We payed in about 4 groups all tipping various amounts. In Toronto over 8 people tip is added to the bill which is what we were use to. So we tipped what we thought was appropriate giving the circumstances given above . Her professionalism and how to handle herself was horrible. Said waiter felt very entitled to a certain amount of tip and when she wasn’t given the amount she required she voice Her opinion amongst the group explaining that the tip should of been higher . I'm very picky about my eggs. There are plenty of places around that say they do eggs, but they fail miserably. That's not the case at La Planète Oeuf - they do know eggs, and they know how to do them consistently right and get them to you while they're still hot.

Sadly where they succeed with the eggs they're let down with the rest of the plates, which is good but nothing to write home about. Their menu is diverse and their prices reasonable enough to bring your family. It's not "wow" but you'll still have a good meal.

Their prices are incredibly reasonable for breakfast on weekdays.

The staff are excellent, but the place is pretty grimy, especially towards the back of the restaurant with sticky chairs and filthy toilets. Try and avoid the rear seating if you're a non-smoker as the staff are in and out of the emergency exit door for cigarette breaks, and a lot of the smoke comes into the restaurant.

Great service! We felt instantly welcome as we walked in, all the staff said hello with a smile! Our server was attentive and others also asked if we wanted a refill of our coffees. The food arrived quickly after our order was placed even though the restaurant was fairly busy.

A decent price quality ratio, we ordered a spinach crepe with hollandaise sauce and french toasts with eggs. We will be back to try other items on the menu, they have a wide selection from sweet to salty items.
