Monsieur Shish-Taouk — Restaurant in Montreal

Such a pleasant surprise! The unassuming ambience is nothing impressive but the quality and quantity of the food really surpasses expectations. The store is not fancy but clean and well organized.

Gyros are so soft and the pickled peppers are such a nice acidic addition to the dish, but I can’t believe that my favorite is the rice.

Hear me out. I’m Asian, and my grandparents used to grow organic premium rice. I am really picky when it comes to rice. But this rice is rich in flavor and just the right amount of savory. I even skip on rice in restaurants in Korea because I’m that stuck-up about rice! And here, I couldn’t get enough of it!

I am sure everything else is great too, but I’m sticking to the Gyro platter. 100% would...

This place is scam....ordered with Ubereats 2 shish-taouk plate, and 60% of the plate was rice/potatoes 25% salad with a poor dressing and 15% meat. At the first look, I thought that there is a good quantity of meat....but in reality the meat is over the rice and the potatoes. Then I was "OK, the meat might be very good"....but nope, the meat is of very random/poor quality. Very disapointed by this restaurant and can't believe one sec that it is so highly rated...

Je vais être honnête. L'endroit est un peu crado. Il font réchauffer les patates au four micro-onde. Et certains à-côtés comme les légumes peuvent commencer à manquer de fraîcheur en fin de journée. MAIS! Ne vous laissez pas abattre par ces petits défauts! Il s'agit ici du MEILLEUR SANDWICH SHISH TAOUK DE MONTRÉAL!!! Le poulet: EXCELLENT! Meilleure sauce à l'ail que j'ai goûté (et j'en ai goûté beaucoup)! Meilleures patates à l'ail aussi! Et le MEILLEUR SHARWAMA AUSSI!!1!!1! Au final, c'est subjectif, mais je vous assure qu'une fois que j'ai découvert ce resto, j'en ai abusé... et sans regret! À chaque fois que je mange mon shish taouk, c'est un orgasme gustatif. NO JOKE! Monsieur Shish Taouk est un petit bijou caché de notre ville. Longue vie aux shish taouk et à ce restaurant!

Update 7 ans plus tard: Toujours aussi délicieux. J'y suis allé au moins 25 fois dans les 7 dernières années. Je me suis laissé tenté par les falafels qui ne sont pas mon premier choix à l'habitude. Mais oh my! Je n'ai pas été déçu! C'était encore une fois délicieux. Et le proprio est toujours aussi sympathique et fidèle au poste! Les prix sont très raisonnables aussi! À noter que l'endroit a eu une petite cure de rajeunissement qui le rend encore plus...
