A HIDDEN GEM with Unforgettable Flavours and Service!!
We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Philinos on St. Jean, and it was a standout experience from start to finish. Our group of 34 family members was graciously accommodated right at 12 noon, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
They respected our budget without compromising on quality or experience — a rare and much-appreciated balance! The service was impeccable: friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout the meal.
To start, the Calamari and Greek salad were incredibly fresh and flavorful — the perfect light and zesty beginning. For the main course, we were offered a choice of three hot and hearty options, all served piping hot and delicious. Every dish was clearly crafted with care.
But the real showstopper? The Loukoumades. Golden, crispy on the outside, soft and warm inside, drizzled with honey — absolutely to die for.
Philinos has a way of making you feel like family while delivering top-tier cuisine. We’ll be back — and bringing more friends next time!
Thank you Spiro, John and...
Read moreUpscale Greek food taken to perfection! I know some reviews complain about the portions and prices, but this is a real fine dining experience(and filing)!
Before getting into the food, i should point out to the high ceiling, stained glass, old school bar and the decor that reminded me of my Mediterranean native city old bars!
Speaking about food, this place is the crowned king in upscale Greek food category, and Marven is the king of the mid range ones. Just for the record, Marven also wins when it comes to fried Calamari.
Back to Philinos, , i tried around 10 items(ordered family style) and both execution and presentation were sophisticated and complex. Hands down the best Greek sausages and Pork Souvlaki and Mousaka in town(Kudos to the smokiness of the sausage and the tenderness of the medium raw souvlakis).
However, what really shows the quality compared to regular Greek restaurants are the spreads , Tzitzaki and fried cheese(Saghanaki). Those items can easily get too oily in most restaurants. But here, it was the perfect balance between garlic, oil and...

The restaurant was crowded and loud. I would have been happy to spend $100 on drinks/wine but no one ever asked me. We sat there for 15 minutes with stares at the bartender and wait staff. No one said a word to us. When we left they didn't even apologize. This is a restaurant resting on it's laurels. They don't care anymore and it shows. You may want to give people waiting at the bar a cocktail menu or wine list? I suspect the food is good but the service is worse than bad - it's offensive. There is no shortage of good Greek in Montreal. On a Friday or Saturday night I would suggest you go elsewhere. Maybe during the week they're better but I'll never know for sure because I won't...
