Went to have a dinner with my siblings but didn’t even got to try the food before leaving. The host was nice and so was the waitress.
In the menu there’s a part of the menu with “Ronda” dishes, which are like a combo menu where they have smaller dishes but they allow you to try different things. When we were figuring out what to have from the menu, we decided to take the “Ronda Pachamama” which basically means you pay $10 more to choose any dish you’d like from other “Ronda” dishes they have, except the “Ceviche mixto” as per what the waitress said.
We had made our choices and the smiling waitress comes over to take our order. When we give her our choices, she said one whole “Ronda” wasn’t part of the selection. When I asked why, she replied because they only make those for the weekend. I told her we were Saturday and as such part of the weekend and that no where in the menu is specified we cannot include the dishes from that specific group. She told me she could ask the chef but that there might be an extra charge. I told her there shouldn’t be an extra charge as there is nothing specifying the omission of a whole group from the selection but to please inform me what the chef said. She comes back and tells me I can only choose from the “Classic Ronda” dishes or we can pay extra to have those choices.
There’s no where in the menu that specifies a sub-family of classic Ronda’s... anyway. At that point we left. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to try this place.
I’m giving it two stars because the staff was nice, but their policies and their misleading menu, not so much.
TL;DR Went for a combo with choices, was told a whole group of choices weren’t available even though nowhere in the menu is specified that those dishes are not part of the dishes one can pick. Left disappointed as they tried to squeeze more money for faulty menu...
Read moreI give the quality of the food a 5 star, but unfortunately the service was a disaster. We all got our plates except for one, so basically once everyone was almost finished we decided to warn another employee that there was a dish missing and clearly there's a lack of communication between the workers because the servant that was designated to our table came to us and realized that we were still waiting and said she would go right away to notify the kitchen. Finally when the dish came we realized that she had brought us a small Jalea rather than a big Jalea...My husband had to get up and go find her to tell her because it took her so long before she came to check up on us. To correct her mistake she brought us another small Jalea which was the obvious thing to do. What happend next was when we went to pay she charged us two small Jalea instead of a big one which was their mistake not ours, she even said she was going to correct the bill, which she didnt and played the victim about how she did us a discount of 10 dollars because it was her mistake and she would have to pay the difference from her own pockets... looking through my bill once home I noticed she had charged us a 5$ extra on something that was suppose to be already included in the Ronda Pachamama which the servant recommended us to take that choice throughout the 5 choices that we were supposedly allowed to have.. at no moment she warned us it was going to be an extra. At the end I ended up paying a bill of almost 230$ instead of 170$. She never once came to refill our cup of water it was just so horrible and at the end I still gave her a 15% tip which I wasn't obligated to do. All I can say is double check your bills to not get...
Read moreI lived in Peru for a bit over 4 years and I've been looking for a place to bring friends and family to discover the real flavor of the Peruvian Cuisine. I've been disapointed in so many occasion but Pachamama really is spot on. The Ceviche is as you'd expect it in a typical Mercado in Lima. El arroz de Mariscos as well. The Pisco sour is also quite good. All in all, if you're into Peruvian food. To me, this is now the go-to place for real Peruvian cuisine. Peru been recognized as the best culinary destination by the world travel agency for the past 7 years now and the wide range of different dish that can be found on a typical Menu in Lima is very well represented here. I highly recommend it to anyone into Gastronomy. If you're not sure what you'd like to try, they offer some sort of appetizer plate they call ronda where you can pick up to 5 different dish to experiment. it is a bit on the expensive side but it`s to be expected as this is NOT your typical t-bone with gravy and mash potato joint. Felicitationes Carlos, haces tu cultura de nacimiento...
