$20 AYCE TACO PROMO They currently have a promo going on which comprises of unlimited tacos with 1 drink for $20. Let me start by explaining how it works. You have a 1 hour time limit with the choice of 4 tacos (carnitas, steak, chorizo & al pastor) and 1 drink (horchata or agua de jamaica). They hand you a paper where you write down the quantity of tacos you want to order. The tacos: Tacos are decent. The carnitas was my favorite as it had some really good porky flavor and seasoning. The steak and chorizo were good too. Al pastor was on the dry side. Add some lime and sauce, you get some very decent tacos. The service: The waiters/waitresses were extremely nice and welcoming. What you need to know is that this place gets busy and has limited seating. Keeping that in mind, if you're here for the promo, get there early. Promo is from 2pm-8pm on select days. If you plan on going on a Sunday, get there early. Otherwise, you'll have to queue up outside. With cold weather coming, this could easily be the breaking point that will ruin your experience before the experience itself. My last tip: We waited 25 mins between orders. So make your first order big to maximize your 1 hour time limit by enjoying food with friends rather than just waiting over and over again. Just keep it within reason, as they do charge $1 per taco not eaten. They don't even let you take it home.

We took the all-you-can-eat-in-one-hour (4 types of tacos only) option for 20$+tax. The tacos were apparentally a bit smaller than the ones à la carte. But we managed to eat around 50 tacos with 4 people. The price is very much worth it. The tacos were basic, but very good, all very well seasonned. All were eaten with extra hot sauce. Chorizo: best one, meat is not dry fatty, and has crunchy bits too, has a kick Pastor: Less fatty but not dry. Also mildy spicy Beef: dry, mildly tough meat Shredded beef: dry as well, softer than not shreddee Horchata: comes free with the AYCE option. Legitinate stuff Ambiance: As expected of a taco joint, crowded and on the noisier side, but conversations are still easy. Service: very friendly service, very slow though (one of our orders got lost somehow) and the waitress was not the most comfortable speaking in english or french. We had someone that spoke spanish, but if your group doesn't have one, it would have taken longer for the waitress to explain the AYCE promotion. But that's how you know the tacos are authentic ;) This place totally satisfied my taco craving. I'm not blown away, but this is the basic taco I want. Would totally come back. The price is worth it (for all you can eat).

I had the weirdest dining experience maybe ever here last Thursday. We went in and were seated. The server came to the table and left menus. Not very friendly but ok. That's fine. She came by to get a drink order. We ordered one mango margarita, one chelada, and one pina colada. They were all on the menu. We needed a few minutes to order our food but did order chips and salsa with a side of guacamole to start. No drinks yet, no worries . She brought the chips and salsa and we ordered the rest. It was $5 margarita day so the one person in our party who had not ordered a drink decided to also decided to get a mango margarita. Our server brought the two margaritas to the table and apologized for the wait but said the other two drinks were not ready yet. We waited and waited, finished our appetizer and asked another server for our drinks since our server seemed to be avoiding us. We still didn’t get them. One member of our party went up to the bar to see what was going on and they said they were busy, couldn’t help us and they would have to talk to the server. There were at least three bartenders not doing much that we could see. We would occasionally hear the blender going and think “ah that must be the pina colada”. Still no drinks. We asked another server to see if she could find out what was going on with our drinks. Our server wouldn’t come to the table so we couldn’t ask her. Spoiler alert: they were not busy. I work in the service industry and this place was not busy. It was after 8pm when we got there and I don’t think anyone was seated after us. After waiting more than thirty minutes for our drinks and telling another server AGAIN that we still had not gotten them, that we could order another drink, a margarita if that's all they were making, or to just cancel our drinks because we were now almost done our food and I was (understandably I think) getting really upset, we finally got drinks. The pina colada was incredibly sweet and not blended. Ok. Maybe that's how they make them? But it’s not what I see in pics on their page. And my chelada, literally just beer, lime juice and salt, was now actually a michelada, not what I ordered and not good. She did say that there would be no charge for the drinks that took 45 minutes to arrive, but I would have refused to pay for them anyway. The pina colada and the michelada (again not what I ordered) were not good. The margaritas were very good and I was planning on getting one for my second drink if I had received my first drink at a reasonable time. And my other friend said she would have ordered a second margarita but the whole experience was just so weird that we just wanted to leave. I paid the bill, not noticing that we were actually charged for chips and guacamole with a side of guacamole (higher charge for the guacamole than the salsa of course). Overall atrocious service, and ok food. The chips were not fresh and the tacos were just ok. I get that this is Canada but the staff all seemed to be Mexican so I don’t understand why the food wasn’t better. Maybe just catering to a Canadian crowd who don’t know real Mexican food? I left a 10% tip which is bottom of the barrel and not something I normally would ever do, probably should have left zero but I just couldn’t do it.

Obviously won’t be going back and do...

It was bad . Absolutely terrible to say the least. However I won’t upload the pictures of the meal I received because that could cause jumpscares . Instead, I'll let my words speak for themselves.

Where do I even start ? I ordered from la toxica through Ubereats and they literally threw tortilla chips into the $10 guacamole I ordered. As if it were an arts and crafts project rather than food that a customer was about to eat. The maybe 7 1/2 (and I’m being generous) pre-dipped chips in guacamole were super soggy and the avocados they used were not fresh.

I ordered a chicken burrito but received a beef burrito instead which I can’t eat. The one bite I took before realizing it was beef wasn’t even worth the following hours of heat waves, nausea and stomach aches I suffered.

My sister ordered beef birria tacos, half of which were onions and cilantro with extremely salty consommé. I tasted it to see for myself, and felt my blood pressure rising up. The red sauce was pretty mediocre, not particularly spicy and lacking in flavour. On the other hand, the salsa verde??? Disgusting. It was smooth and almost slimy. I can’t really describe the taste or texture well as my brain filed this experience away in it’s " repressed memory !!! " folder.

The only thing that was decent from this catastrophe was the horchata, which half of spilled on the drive . That is not the necessarily the restaurant’s fault but because there was ice in the drink I was only left with half a tad watery beverage full of sediments.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience; I was eager to try this restaurant because it had received excellent reviews on tiktok. But don't squander your time like I did. If a friend mentions seeing good reviews on that app, tell them that the only "tik tok" they'll have to worry about is the one of the clock ticking while they're on the bowl after eating there.

Ps: While I mentioned that the only decent thing there was the horchata, the BEST thing about this restaurant is the name they chose for it, which is...

VERY DISAPPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE

I was a huge fan of La Toxica because they used to serve such incredible tacos. However, their poor customer service has completely turned me off and I no longer order from them or go in store.

I was organizing a student event, and I reached out to them to sponsor the event. During a phone call they agreed to sponsor our event and provide a student discount to our members.

After the event, I called multiple times to follow up. I left messages, and never heard back. I tried calling some more, and when finally someone picked up they told me to call back later. When I called back, they blocked my number. I also tried messaging them and they have ignored all of my messages.

I am incredibly disappointed in their service and I would urge anyone wanting to collaborate with La Toxica to re-consider.

Similarly, the quality of their meals has recently dropped in quality. Wanting to support their business, despite their disappointing customer service, I recently ordered from them through UberEats. Our order was completely wrong. The food was soggy and the meat was overcooked.

Lastly, the last time my partner and I went in store, their AC was dripping all over our table. Again, we looked past it because we wanted to support their business, but looking back on it, that was actually very unsanitary and not characteristic of a high quality restaurant.

Overall, I am very disappointed in their business and I have been urging others to go to other local taco...
