Resto Indian — Restaurant in Montreal

I was very excited when I learned that we had an indian restaurant in our neighbourhood and I have tried several dishes so far. I know indian food very well as I've been cooking it for the past 20 years and I've already tried several indian/pakistani restaurants throughout Montreal.

Overall, the food is good. The Tandoori chicken is well spiced, well cooked (not dry at all) and the vegetable pulao that comes with it is excellent! I was happy to find nigella seeds in their samosas; the tamarind sauce that comes with it is simply perfect. Oh, and the dahl is exceptionnal!

The byrianis (lamb and chicken) are so-so. We felt there was too much mint in it and it did not have the complexity of flavours that one expects to find in such a dish.

We were disappointed with the lamb curry and beef korma; we found them bland and uninteresting. The onion bhajis were ok. And the aloo gobi was surprisingly bland; they should add some chili pepper in there.

Lastly, the salad dressing is overly sweet; I would have expected to find something more "indian", with lime juice and chopped coriander. The naan bread is not bad, but they should refrain from adding sugar to the dough.

All in all, it's a very decent place, with very good dishes and other dishes that need...

Belle découverte pour nous. Poulet au beurre sublime et que dire du l’agneau Vindaloo, phénoménal. Les portions sont généreuse et rendent bien le prix payé. De l’agneau, c’est une viande plus dispendieuses 😉 et je n’ai pas trouvé mon plat peu garni comme semble dire d’autres commentaires. Les Naans sont à couper le souffle tellement ils sont savoureux. Nous en avons pris un de chacun. Le riz basmati était frais, aérée et délicieux. Le samosa était ok sans plus, j’aurais aimé une sauce, c’était mon seul bof qui n’en est pas vraiment un 😂. Livraison effectué en 1h15 mais nous sommes à l’extrémité de l’île, néanmoins tout est arrivé extrêmement chaud. Prévoyez si vous êtes pressée. Le livreur était très sympathique et souriant, le service obtenu au téléphone pour des questions était également bien reçu. Commande effectué en ligne, plate-forme clair et facile. We were travelling from Quebec to Toronto and stopped at this restaurant for lunch. We learned that dine-in wasn't available today. Looking at our struggle to find other dine in restaurants, Saujan allowed us to dine in even though he had no staff to assist him. We are very grateful to Saujan, this greatly reduced our trip time. Saujan freshly and super quickly prepared our order. We ordered saag paneer, chana masala, chicken curry, pulav and naan. All dishes were really delicious and fresh. My fav was saag paneer.
