My family spent 2 months in Moose Jaw this summer (visiting from Calgary). After many trips to the bakery this summer, I would have to say that the customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. The lady running the place, as well as an older woman with short grey hair, both need to improve their attitudes and customer service skills significantly, if this place is going to thrive. Yes the baking is good and the prices are too, but sadly, not one single person must go to this bakery for the customer service or environment. They go because nowhere else has fresh baking in town, it’s the only option. Any question we had, as simple as which type of meat is in the hot dog (with buns baked around it) is met with attitude. Questioning why I would even need to know that, and saying she didn’t know, and the man who would know that isn’t there. After she argued a bit she finally went and asked a girl in the back. No comprehension whatsoever about why it would be necessary to tell someone a basic/main ingredient. No comprehension that not everyone eats every type of meat. There was also irritation and argument when we asked for baking to be put in a box, instead of thrown in paper bags. She stated that despite my concerns of the frosting coming off in the brown bags, especially in the hot summer weather, she said the frosting was hard and this wouldn’t happen. This was incorrect and of course when we got home, the bag was a mess. Baking gets squished in paper bags and why would I want maple frosting from one donut to be all over my Boston cream for example? People want their baking (even if it’s only 2-3 items) in a little box so they are presentable. The oils from the baking also start saturating the bags and also your car seat, if it’s not a quick drive. If you need to charge a few cents extra for a box, then do that. Because that must be about money. If you don’t go early, they won’t let you buy single cinnamon buns and you have to buy a whole bag of them. Also, my children asking what certain items were, was met with an irritated tone every trip. There are almost no labels to tell you what anything is, or the price. If you are so irritated by people asking questions, then I would suggest putting labels beside everything. Easy fix. Customer service is EVERYTHING. I fear that well priced donuts has locals just putting up with the poor attitude of the woman who runs the place. As the younger generation becomes the bulk of customers in MJ (a group who has less tolerance to support businesses who make no effort to be kind and positive to their customers) this place will not thrive. To the owner, SMILE, be kind, be patient, be helpful. Act as if you like and appreciate your customers. Or perhaps hire someone to do those things who can work at the front, and on the phones for you, if it doesn’t come...
Read moreI came to see what there was, completely unaware that I couldn't simply look around without her first confirming that I wasn't there to make an order, and the guy who came in behind me could be served first. The annoyance in her tone made no sense to me, it was tactless. I ended up getting some squares, and I had to ask for the sales receipt. I looked it over and I didn't understand the two times seven. You know I'd picked out 4 of these and 4 of those, etcetera. I knew they were 65 cents each or 6 for $3.50, but I didn't know that I had picked out 6 different types, I didn't know I had picked out exactly 24, and she was actually annoyed at my confusion, mentioning "it's the same thing," and I had to think for a sec and then i got that it was $7 was for 2 dozen. So I can confirm that she is old, impatient and rude. I came to support her business, but I will not be back, there is no excuse. You can tell which reviews are fake because they all say "staff were friendly" copied & pasted. BTW, donuts are the most unhealthy food you can give your body,...
Read moreUpdate Service has been declining lately. No use of messaging them for reservation because it's either they will not reply or they'll reply late saying that they overlook your message and when you go to the store, there is nothing left even if it was just past lunch time. We have to drive more than an hour only to end up getting nothing since it's hard to reach out to them. Gave another chance the following week, tried to make reservation again myself and my son tried messaging them too separately and again they ignored. I know this review won't matter to them since they are taking pride that they are a well established business and dont need small customers like us but hopefully they will improve in...
