Bangkok Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Newmarket

I have been to this restaurant over 30 times. I went there last night for my daughter's 22nd birthday thinking it would be just as good as it has been in the past. I was so very wrong! Service was horrible. We ordered appetizers and dinner. One appetizer came out but not mine. They started serving the main course to everyone and I let the waitress know that I was still waiting for my appetizer for over 45 minutes. She finally brought it out but everyone else was still getting their meals. After I finished my appetizer, two of us were still waiting for our meals. The two people who had been served first were finishing up their meals and the other two people we halfway done their meals since the food came out so sporadically. One other person order Pad Thai with shrimp. They made the Pad Thai three times before they finally got it right. My meals finally came after 75 minutes!!!! I explained to waitress when we first sat done that our table should be considered peanut free and we had two severe allergies. THREE times they brought peanuts over to the table. Twice on the Pad Thai and once in a separate bowl. I gave up! I asked for the bill, so I could pay and never come back. Even asking for the bill was a problem. I actually had to track the server down to pay. I let them know, I was not happy and no apology was every offered for the bad service or the potentially life threatening peanut offerings. I will NEVER be back. If you want good service. Do not go here. If you have any allergies, do not go here. If you want to eat at the same time as the rest of your table, do not go here. Im not a big fan of Thai food to begin with so it's never my first choice of meal when it comes to food in general. But when my friend suggested we stop by Bangkok Thai because she said this place was good. I decided to give it a try. We ordered mango chicken salad for apps and Papaya salad. Wow was it delicious. Best mango chicken salad ever!! Wasn't too hard or soft. The mango was perfectly marinated and the chicken was in little pieces. Wasn't chunky at all so it gave the dish a good balance. It felt healthy eating the mango salad and papaya salad as well. For the main dish we ordered red curry chicken with rice and chicken and shrimp padthai. Best shrimp/chicken padthai I've ever had, very saucy and lots of flavours. Make you want to eat more and more. The red curry chicken was made perfectly creamy. It was just 2 of us and we couldn't finished everything since the restaurant was more than generous with their portion size. We even packed what we couldn't finish to go. Very nice friendly employees there. Even going to Thailand the country before didn't exceed my expectation like Bangkok Thai. Also order the Thai iced tea or coconut juice to go with your meal. Everytime I crave Thai food, I'd drive from Toronto to New Market just to eat here . Definitely worth...

I have been here on multiple occasions and one thing I can say is that they are very consistent. Yes, consistently good! Their portions are quite generous and you have enough leftovers for the next day.

Things I have ordered.

Lemon chicken curry - Sooo flavourful. This curry was just amazing. It had lots of vegetables as well as chicken. One thing to note is that we had to get rice separately. They had the option of getting brown rice though.

Red curry with Chicken - This was a bit disappointing since it did not have any lemon grass. I love lemongrass. It was quite mild (which is a good thing for me) but you probably want to tell them if you want it spicy.

Eggplant delight - plenty of eggplant but very greasy. got the lunch special so it came with a spring roll, soup and rice.

Chicken basil fried rice- mind blowing! Every bite was full o flavours. Loads of garlic (yes, I am a big garlic fan). They don't seem to skimp on their veggies or meat.

Service - since I have only ordered takeout I can't say much about it.

They have also received the reader's choice award multiple times as best Thai in the York region.

Overall, this is fantastic for Thai food although it doesn't meet the flavour profiles of Sukhothai or...
