Had dinner at the Mandarin all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant in Newmarket recently and it was quite the experience! If you’re looking for a place with something for everyone, this buffet truly delivers. The variety is impressive — from sushi and dim sum to roast beef and stir-fries, plus a whole dessert section that could tempt even the most disciplined eater.
The food was fresh and well-stocked all evening, which isn’t always the case at buffets. I particularly enjoyed the crispy spring rolls, the grill section, and the sweet & sour pork.
Pricing can’t be complained about as it is for what you get — especially if you go hungry and make the most of it. Dinner prices are a bit higher than lunch but the variety and quality should be taken into account. They have discounts for seniors and kids. As a person above 65 years old, I got a 20% discount on my bill. Children under four years can eat free from the buffet (up to two children per a paying adult). Please note that buffet prices do not include beverages.
Service was friendly and efficient. Plates were cleared promptly and staff members were attentive without hovering. The atmosphere is spacious and family-friendly, with lots of seating and cheerful decor .
If you’re going with family, a group of friends, or just have a craving for lots of different things, Mandarin Newmarket is a solid and satisfying choice. Come hungry, pace yourself and definitely save room for the soft-serve ice cream and cotton candy at the end! The Mandarin restaurant chain, started in 1979, has 30 locations...

Gary, the owner of this Mandarin, was kind enough to give my family and I an opportunity to revisit this location today and the experience was excellent. The food was fresh, the ambience was relaxed and the service was on point. Clearly, our other visit was an off night. It is obvious that Gary is working hard to maintain this location and puts his heart into what he does. Thank you for rectifying this for us. We cannot wait to return!
We were so excited to finally try this Mandarin as we recently moved to this area. We went on a Tuesday evening (around 7:30 pm), with empty bellies and were surprised to find that while all of the typical food options were available, many of them were cold and had been sitting there for the remainder of the night. It was a quieter night so I understand they wouldn’t be making fresh food as frequently, but it was disappointing to go back to grab items like pizza, lemon chicken, garlic bread and waffles to find that they were cold.
I will add that the service itself was excellent. The servers are very personable. They shut the music off at around 8:15 despite being open until 9:00 which was also odd and changed the experience.
Overall, compared to other experiences at Mandarin, this one didn’t live up to what I’d expect. Hoping for a better experience...
Read moreI was very excited to visit Mandarin for the lunch buffet since I've never actually gone. A bunch of my past reviews have covered Indian buffets and having the chance to compare a different culture's buffet was also enticing. As you've seen from my rating, it was a terrific experience.
Walking into the restaurant, I was shocked at the number of options available. I've gone to buffets that didn't even have half of what Mandarin (Newmarket) offered yet they're charging you MORE. Mandarin's pricing is more than reasonable given the absurd amount of choices. There were about 8 main sections covering various types of food. One section had salads, another had dessert, there was an ice cream station, a section for prepared foods like sushi and sliders and so on. I was a bit surprised it wasn't strictly Asian cuisine, as one may assume, but this is not a bad thing by any means.
Customer service was also top notch, servers were friendly and very attentive, visiting frequently to take plates and refill water but also to make sure everything was going well.
Honestly, if I knew it was like this, I would've visited much earlier (and now, I realize what the Canada Day hype is about). Very solid experience and I cannot recommend it enough. I will definitely be coming back at the next possible...
