Fresh Burger Newmarket — Restaurant in Newmarket

We have been eating at Fresh Burger in Newmarket often for about a year now. The food is always excellent.

The burgers are delicious, properly cooked, fresh “smashed” ground beef and very tasty. The bun is light and soft and perfectly sized for the burger.

The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside like fries should be. I read a review somewhere about the fries being “hard” and the person felt they would break a tooth. This is the furthest thing from the truth. That review likely came from someone who prefers the disgusting, mushy fries from Hero burger. The fries are also seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. They are among the best fast food fries anywhere. The gravy is among the best flavoured I have ever had which also makes for excellent poutine with proper cheese curds.

I have eaten at several Fresh Burger locations and the Newmarket location is the best by far. It is always very clean, the staff are friendly and professional and the food is perfectly cooked. The manager Raj is a breath of fresh air in the fast food industry. He always brings the food to our table, takes the time to come over and ask if everything is good and he is genuinely happy to see us when we come in. Raj runs a very tight ship! He makes sure that the entire experience at Fresh Burger in Newmarket is always great.

I am heaping praise on Fresh Burger Newmarket as it is the best location I have tried so far. We had an unfortunate experience at the Mississauga location earlier this year. The restaurant was a mess. Granted, it was very busy so I chalked it up to the staff being too busy cooking to get out and clean up. Unfortunately they didn’t even get it right with the cooking as the burgers were not cooked through which gave all of us upset tummies that night. I have also eaten at the Richmond Hill location and found that the restaurant was clean and the staff were great but they didn’t season the food well so everything was somewhat bland compare...

2023 Nov. 3/5 The burger was mid, not really flavourful like before, no aftertaste but was just okay, nothing special unfortunately...servers were very friendly and pleasant.

2022 Mar. 4/5 overall Not as good as the other Fresh Burger locations but the staff are still obviously new so I will return in the future to give them a retry...

Fries 2/5: WAY TOO SALTY. I ordered fries with salt however it tasted like I ordered salt with fries...a bit of a problem while driving and taking a bite...

Burgers 4.5/5: As always Fresh Burger burgers are REALLY good, the meat was juicy and tasty, my only issue was that there was an aftertaste on the meat on my burger (I ordered the double prime whatever it is called) one that was not nice, not sure what it was...figure it was something from the grill on the beef and unsure what...again the burger itself when you bite in was delicious but the aftertaste of the meat left a lingering what is that type of reaction so again figure it is something related to all the staff being new (they were training the cash person on what to do when I ordered for instance) plus they have only been open for 2 weeks so again will return in a bit and hope they have their act together by then...

Friendliness 5/5: No issues, everyone was very friendly...I believe the owner (else manager but pretty sure it was the owner) was there mind you...

Parking 5/5: Easy to find a spot at this location

Speed of service 5/5: Considering they are new was impressed by how efficient they were...you could tell they were ensuring it was put correctly in the packaging so they did not rush anything but were extremely efficient for only being open for 2 weeks, excellent.

Cleanliness 5/5: Place was immaculate...then again I believe the building is...

This is the first time I’ve ever been to Fresh burger today.

I got the 6oz cheeseburger combo, and upgraded to the Poutine. .

The cheeseburger was good. The poutine was also good. No complaints on the taste of the food.

The place is big and very clean also. No complaints here.

The service was also good, with the 3 people working there, being very nice also.

The reason this place gets an overall 2 stars is the Price of the combo, in conjuction with the taste of the food.

Let me explain…..

As I stated, previously, the taste of the food was good, however, I cannot say that this burger was far superior to say a Fresh Whopper from Burger King. A Burger King whopper also tastes pretty darn good when it’s made fresh. It is a very comparable burger to this 6oz patty.

And the poutine was also good, however it tastes very similar to a Harvery’s Poutine, which also tastes pretty darn good.

From a price standpoint, the price of a whopper combo at Burger King is less than $8.50 with a coupon which is always available. PS. Remember, this price ALSO includes a Fries and drink.

I PAID an unbelievable $23 for my cheeseburger and poutine combo.

That is an absolutely insane amount to pay for a small cheeseburger, poutine, and a can of Coke (because their fountain machine was not working for Coke).

There’s no way I would come back to fresh Burger again, Simply because of the price, and also because other places have comparable tasting burgers with a much better...
