I've been in North Bay for 2.5 years and their gyro is the best thing I've eaten, anywhere, ever. I don't even care for lamb much. It tastes so good. What I get is mild, extra extra sauce and extra extra extra black olives. I take it home and put it in the oven at 350 for 12 minutes, on a pan with holes in it. It makes the shell firm and crispy. It's massive, it's heavier than any fast food burger. The amount of meat in it is super hefty, it falls out, subway can't compete. It's also relatively cheap at $9.50. When people say they're visiting the city I recommend the trails and this gyro. The spicey gyro can be a little hot, try the mild first. It surprises me that something so simple I find better than any fast food. I like to think about what this gyro would do if sold from a food truck.

Only place in town now to get Greek food and it’s amazing I had the chicken souvlaki with a salad and poutine Anne it was amazing and absolutely worth every penny. They don’t skimp on the food, the side salad it self was meal size on its own same with the side poutine and I love the chicken it was nice and juicy and well spiced. And my friend had the gyro and other than the fact that it was a little too spicy she loved it, and said there was a generous amount of tzatziki and that made her really happy.

Would have been nice if homeboy putting meat on the gyro wore gloves while doing so. The guy putting vegetables did. I was too tired at this point in the day to make a stink about it, but that’s gross dude. Roasted chicken gyro was fine, not particularly great, not particularly bad.

Delicious, Fresh, Friendly service, Healthy!!!

We are from Timmins and every time we go to North Bay we have to visit the sub place. My son had colitus and is in remission, he has to watch what he eats (especially preservatives), especially takeout, and he says that eating a gyro ( donair and chicken with spice and tziki sauce, black and green olives, tomatoes and lettuce, onion) is "good" for his body.

The fries are cooked in peanut oil, and they taste homemade. Cannot say enough about this place. We told the owners that we used to have a shawarma stop in Timmins and we were missing the pickled turnips and hot peppers, the owner had the confidence in his restaurant to recommend another stop in North Bay that makes lebanese shawarma!!

We never went, we ended up back at the sub place to have one last gyro and baclava before we went home....2 thumbs up...if i had a third it would be up tooo. haha

If I could recommend any changes it would be the sub buns. The buns need to be more like Mr sub and less like buns you would buy at a...

Hey I have been a fan of The Sub Place since thier original place of business on Algonquin Ave. I was very sad to see that this gem had changed hands from the original owners. The restaurant may not have been anything spectacular to look at, but the food was always fresh, hot, generous portions and all around great quality. This was my first experience since since the previous owners have finally retired. I'm sad to say that I'm disappointed in my meal. I've never felt this way before about this establishment. I ordered my usual which is a gyro and a small poutine. The poutine was half the size it use to be, the gravy tasted like canned gravy, the fries were under done and salty. My gyro was great tasty, the veggies were definitely fresh and crisp but there was definitely less meat than there use to be. I did have a specific way I wanted my gyro prepared and they were spot on with this request.

I really didn't want to do this, but maybe the new owners will see and maybe have a discussion or change things.

Thank...

Disrespectful and unprofessional staff, terrible food.

Edit: Editing this on the request of the owner.

Firstly, I felt discriminated against when I visited yesterday. Your staff seemed to greet all the other guests except for me and my mate. Of course you'll say this wasn't on purpose but I can tell you that it was. Also, they didn't bother to explain when I couldn't understand what will be included in the gyro meal I've ordered. The lady on the counter asked if I want the chicken skin on and before I could reply, the other staff member just assumed I'd want it on and told the lady that I want it on. They also 'forgot ' to add drinks to my order which I only realized after I came back home. I am seeing the owner's reply on other comments saying you will try to improve your service and food, but unfortunately it was too late in my case. Will never visit this store...
