It was my first time coming here, and it was a great experience. I recommend making a reservations because it is a small place, but not in a bad way. The atmosphere was great and it's an open kitchen set up where you see the chefs working and doing their thing! We were sat on a 4 top nestled in a corner which felt like our own private table. The service was great and super friendly. They have a small changing menu and we had a lot of questions, but our server was more than happy to explain what everything was and what came with them. The food was really good, I personally had the Chicago Gyro. The rest had Chicken Parm and Chicken Souvlaki. Servings are plentiful and very filling! Chef Steve checked on us through our meal and is a very personable person! All in all a great experience and will definitely be back!

Gus & Guido's Backyard was a great experience . Located in historic downtown Ayr there is no shortage of beautiful architecture to check out while on their covid-19 patio. It's a warm welcoming environment Chef Steve checks with each of his guests. He is always cooking up something special. Tonight we tried his signature seafood linguine that had no shortage of seafood. His choice of salmon mixed with muscles calamari in gigantic shrimp was a month watering choice . It was a gigantic portion , if you can stop yourself then you will have a great snack at a later time. We also tried his lobster stuffed sole which is a great choice for any seafood lover , with delicate herbs and large portion of fresh fish , the asparagus accompaniment was perfectly cooked as well as the roasted potatoes and rice pilaf .

I went in tonight to order take out. When I arrived, I asked what comes with the cabbage rolls. I was told potatoes and vegetables. I asked what kind of vegetables, and was told broccoli, carrots and green beans. I requested mashed potatoes and was told that wasn’t a problem. I came back in 20 minutes as instructed and paid for my meal. When I got home, I realized I was given cabbage rolls with the tiniest amount of meat, rice, and two roasted potatoes. No vegetables. The potatoes were so hard they were inedible, and as I said, the cabbage rolls were almost 100% rice, with small pieces of what I assume was ground beef. I have attempted to call, literally 63 times since I arrived home, and have only received the automated message that says not to leave a message. Very disappointing for my first visit.

Truly the worst experience dining we have ever had... From the highly intoxicated patrons at the bar that were well beyond their limit .. to the continual vulgar language coming from them at an ever increasing volume... To the incredible slow delivery our meal after we ordered... More than 60 minute had passed where several tables that arrived after we did got their food prior to ours.. then once we got the food it was sooooo salty I felt like I was on a pirate ship.. We were not the only ones that felt this way as the table next to us also found it salty ( note the wife would not eat the food ). Both tables expressed our displeasure at the food and slow service .. But to top it off after our waitress conveyed our concerns to the owner she came back in tears after being told it was all her fault... We indicated we will not be back and will share this as we were beyond disappointed. I guess that what happens when you are not a regular, but at this rate we will not be either. Saddened that it was this bad and we were embarrassed we had taken friends...

Ruined my birthday! My husband and i were so looking forward to this outing, only to be totally disappointed! When i made reservations, chef steve was excited we were coming - 1 hr drive away. Got there for 7. 20 mins for drink order. Another 30 mins for food order. Bread as app was burnt, saganaki when it finally came, the pitas were burnt. When Chef Steve finally came to say hello, we realized order was wrong. He said he would cook it although it wasnt what i ordered. Told him it was what i ordered. When waitress came to advise we would be waiting longer. We said no, we would be leaving. So, if you are a friend of the chef, you are golden - but if someone he doesnt remember- good luck . Others that came in after us were served first! I have never written a bad review before- but this was just so...
