A disappointing experience this week (July 29-31). We reserved a room with a balcony but got a room on the third floor with coved ceilings. The room was 90 degrees when we got there at 5 pm. Check in is at 4 pm There is an air conditioner in the room but was not on for our arrival. The internet doesn’t reach the top floor and when we mentioned this to the staff they just said ya it doesn’t work up there. My wife ran a bath after dinner the first of two nights only to find the water was very dirty coming out of the taps. We did not feel comfortable brushing our teeth with tap water. 24 hours after checking in we received a notice and two bottles of water ( one each). The notice said they had a water issue and to not use it for 48 hrs. The shower seemed ok to use. The pool was lacking in attention. Most of the floating pool toys were covered in ants. I don’t think the skimmer was working properly. When I go to a hotel the most important things for me are a good bed and a nice shower. This bed was a hammock! It is time to thank it for its service and take it to the curb. All hotels and motels should have mattress covers on the beds to prevent bed bugs. People are travelling from all over and bed bugs just from luggage bag to luggage bag. A mattress cover goes along way in preventing the spread. The toilet paper, wow. Onion paper is way thicker than. This is the same as they use in provincial park washrooms because they are on septic systems. Overall this little hotel has so much potential. They need to invest some money to correct some of these issues. I would much rather be leaving an outstanding review but I can’t today.

We weren't originally going to stay here as it wasn't on our itinerary for our Trent-Severn Waterway kayaking trip, but after a quick enquiry if there was any camping nearby (after suffering in the heat and needing a break from paddling), we were offered to pitch tents in the Burleigh Inn's unused area including access to the pool, for less than a campground would cost. How could we say no?However, after dining in the inn's restaurant, we decided we couldn't just camp here, it's too good to not take full advantage of their amenities. We decided we'd had better check out their rooms. Zero disappointment. The room attendant already had our air conditioning running, lighting set, and we found everything sparkling clean. The pool here is crystal clear and refreshing, views are beautiful, and there's even ice cream and an artisan gift market next door. Minutes to the falls. Minutes to the Lock. Honestly, this place is one of the best parts of our trip. This is the cutest historic inn ever. Suites are stunning. Cottages are adorable. Marina can accommodate most pleasurecraft. The food is amazing. But the best part is the staff. They are simply the absolute best!! If you're in this area, definitely consider staying at the Burleigh Falls Inn. You won't be disappointed.

We had been to the Inn several years ago and always wanted to go back. What a BIG DISAPOINTMENT ! This is not what I remember. They also made us pay for our room up front before we even saw it. Our room was not like the pictures posted on the website! It was horrible! The "decorative" pillow shams on the bed were disgusting, All badly pilled and worn. Ready for the garbage!! Nowhere to set your luggage on except the floor. The key to open the door kept sticking. The common area deck on the second floor had old wet cigarette butts all over the floor. Disgusting!! The pool area was in disrepair. You had to be careful not to trip on the uneven deck boards or the large gaps in between the boards. The dining was Ok. Food was good but we had to wait an hour for our food. Be aware that for breakfast they don't start until 9 a.m. so if you want an early start don't buy the breakfast package! I don't understand how they can rate this hotel a 4.2. It is more like a 2 !! I really felt ripped off ! Will never go back there or recommend this hotel to anyone.

I planned my wedding at my cottage down the road and told all my guests to stay here. Two family members called before I spoke with the office manager Jennifer and they were able to book one night. When the rest of my guest called to book they were told that they had to stay for 2 nights because it was a long weekend. If course this was after I spoke with the office manager, and had everyone say they were a part of the wedding. When I called to try and understand why everyone had to book 2 nights, Jennifer said that she would gladly call back the two people that just have one night and make them book 2! She said the reasoning they got the one night was because the person answering the phone was not aware of their policies. I must add that we did not receive a discounted rate for almost selling out the hotel.

Even with the mandatory 2 night stay we booked 11 rooms!

My guests arrived and loved the landscaping and pool area. Then, everyone went down for dinner at around 8pm and they were told that they have 15 minutes to put in their order before the grill closed. Another one of my guests joined them at 8:30 and was told that he could not order a beer because they were closing in 30 minutes and already had last call. I do understand that places need to close and have last call but when you have a sold out hotel in a seasonal location; one would think they would extend their hours.

The wedding day – I, the bride called and spoke with Jennifer because I had flowers to be put in the room of my soon to be in-laws and was told that I would have to sign for the room key if I wanted to put the flowers in the room. I said that all I wanted to do is have someone put the flowers in the room, it could be her for all care and she replied with “I don’t have time to do that!” After 30 minutes of arguing with her, she opened the door. I did not need to deal with that on my wedding day. Jennifer should have made it as easy as possible for the bride.

The morning after – I booked the large room for all my guests to come for brunch. When we arrived I was horrified. They had all my guests crammed in the grill. We were literally sitting on top of each other. Not only that, it was not private as I requested. My husband and I walked in thinking that we would have been taken care of however we were told that we had to wait for a seat and a cup of coffee. The food took over 45 minutes to be delivered and there was still no coffee. I went up to the counter to find the coffee and Jennifer told me that they are not serving anymore and that the service had ended.

I do have to say that the grounds are beautiful and everyone loved their room. It is such a shame that the service was so awful, none of my guests would return. Every wedding has their hiccups, but for it to be the whole hotel say was saddening.

I will not return to the hotel...

Four of us visited in late March for a test, to possibly book to bring our Motorcycle friends down for a ride in June. We were greeted and felt welcome and wanted. ||||So we booked for 17 of us. ||||The accommodations, food (for the most part) and the entertainment YukYuks was wonderful. |||| Communication between the manager and staff with us, made us feel very unwelcome, || once we are all settled into our rooms and they had rec'd our money for the nights stay. ||||Management was always right every time we made a comment or concern. This is the way it is, take it or leave it was their response. ||||No drink order was taken or allowed pre dinner service (yes I said allowed) when the server brought the starters. We were not made aware that it was going to be a set menu (5 options only and no variations). Server was very short and almost rude when speaking with us. There was no communication on the meal being a set value of $35 pp desert was extra, as this was not the case when we visited back in March. Asking for things to go with our meals that was included was like we were asking for the moon. And then when it was finally brought to our table we had already finished eating. ||||As we were the first to book for the comedy event as the manager had to still confirm they were set to come we figured we would have good seats. Our dining area was nice but they gave us the most uncomfortable plastic chairs at dinner. Moving over the the other side for the show we thought we could sit somewhere with nicer seating. NOPE silly us.... they had given us back of the bus table with again plastic seats. OMG! are you kidding me what a joke. When we complained she offered us our money back for the show if we didn't want to stay so half of us opted out of the show. Those of us that stayed, two from our group exchanged their chairs for the others as they had back issues. Later when the manager was seating the other guest ( family) she walked by and noticed two chairs had been exchange and gave us the "looks could kill" as if we had committed the worst crime ever! ||||I never knew people who rode very expensive Harley Davidson bikes for recreation that our money was not as good as those that owned expensive cottages in the area etc. ||||It's very disappointing, that the service did a 180 from what we experienced in March ! ||||They lost out in 17 people staying for breakfast the next morning as our group was so done with their lack of accountability, guess they apparently don't need our business that much. ||||Social media helps spread our experience and I hope no one else has to go through what we all did. I also hope this reaches the owner of The Burleigh Falls Inn. and not just the manager as it will fall...
