We decided to order takeout on Saturday, December 21st at 8:45 p.m. as a friend of mine was visiting from Miami. We ordered Pad Thai with chicken and there were literally 4 pieces of chicken in the dish - we had to fight for the chicken. We did not want Tofu in the dish, but we did ask for peanuts - WHICH WERE NOT INCLUDED. As well, there were no beansprouts and the sauce tasted like ketchup was used to make the sauce. We also ordered the Funky Deluxe Fried Rice which was so bland tasting and boring looking we had to put soya sauce on it as well as some of the sauce we got from the Spring Rolls to try to make it taste edible. Needless to say, my friend said I would be crazy to order from there again and spend $40.00 on food that should not have been eaten. I guess the clue to me when we went to pick up the food should have been that at 8:45 p.m. there was not a soul in the restaurant but across the street at the Olive Press it was full. When I checked the reviews on Google, it says that Funky Thai has a 4.3 out of 5 - I guess some of the people who are writing the reviews have not had good Thai food. Lastly, I guess I should have checked with my Millennial daughter as to where to go for GOOD Thai food in Oakville and she said that Bamboo Legend is excellent - which we will try on the next craving for Thai food. Also the person who I paid when I went to pick up the order was RUDE. Unacceptable when they were not busy at all - no customers. I gave this restaurant a 1 which is too much. Find another place to enjoy Thai Food - this is the...

I Went to funky Thai alone. This was my first time.

I was greeted very nicely when I walked in. The restaurant wasn’t that busy and there were 2 servers working. I sat down and out read the menu.

There was a Good selection of dishes to choose from. After I put the menu down, I was waiting for almost 10 mins until the server notice and she came over and took my order.

I ordered the Lemongrass soup with Shrimp and a Masamam Curry with beef to go.

The soup came out and it was very large. Good flavour of lemongrass. I noticed that there was rice noodles. I found that strange for just a thai lemongrass soup. I could only finish half and packed the rest.

When I asked the server if that was a small. She replied back “no”. There is only 1 size. I kept repeating, “isn’t there a small size because I ordered a small lemongrass soup?. “

She replied back “what are you talking about”.

I showed her on the menu and she said “you ordered a lemongrass pho soup”!

I guess that was my mistake. I should have been specific.

When I got home I tried the beef curry. Not a very think curry sauce for masamam curry. The beef wasn’t as high quality I would normally find in a Thai restaurant.

This restaurant has more of a fusion type cuisine if your into that. However, I was expecting Thai food. Considering the name being “Funky Thai”

I don’t think I would...

Usually, these lowkey thai restaurants turn out to be real hidden gems, so I was excited to check this place out. It was not the case here!

The place is extremely depressing from the moment you step a foot in! But considering the very limited choices around and that there is no where else to go to, I decided to stay!

Ripped cushions and upholstery, broken furniture, clothes rack in the dining area, dusty furniture, and the list goes on..

The atmosphere is dark, depressing, with very loud noises coming out of the kitchen and hood! It brought back memories of dining under the limited restrictions during lockdown!

To save money, this place twisted their dine-in services so they serve you everything in takeout containers but you can sit and eat it there, using their cheap paper plate and plastic cutlery!

Anything else you would need, you can go and find it yourself, whether it’s the warm water they have sitting there for hours, or the lonely salt shaker and teriyaki sauce bottle!

The food was far from authentic, flavors were bland, and there is absolutely nothing to brag about.

The lady at the cash was nice, helpful and she did her job, but the whole experience taking everything else in consideration...

WORST excuse for Thai food I have ever had!! Mango salad is the easiest Thai food to make and yet they managed to get it so wrong. Mango was hard, no cilantro, 4 cashews in total, 2 small slices of red pepper and the sauce was simple syrup with no flavor, no fish sauce, no red chilies!! I've had better at a mall food court!!. Pad Thai had no flavor, it was basically noodles with a sweet red sauce?? No peanuts, not spice and the cheapest version of pad Thai I have ever seen. Spare yourself the experience and make Kraft dinner....its just as Thai as ordering from this place!!. Wow...how are you guys still in business? I should say that I love Thai food and eat it often...usually at places that are authentic and love the spice and quality of fresh ingredients. Send your cook to a cooking class or back to McDonald where bland white bread food is expected.

I usually avoid giving low ratings to any restaurant or business, but my experience here was disappointing. The lady at the counter was incredibly rude. I asked a few questions about a specific dish on the menu, and her responses were not only unhelpful but also sarcastic and disrespectful. I ended up leaving without placing an order, and she didn’t even seem to care. Customer service needs to be much better, courtesy and basic etiquette go a long way!
