Came with a large group. Had heard a lot about the place. It is a decent location (not as crowded, however, on a Saturday night they had 2 staff members working and the restaurant was near full. The service was extremely slow, they didn’t have any Glasses to offer, meat quantity on the platter for 5 was more like for a platter for 3 at best 3 and was heavily loaded with pita and rice and bulgar. The kabob rolls had broken shredded extremely stingy pieces of meat in them with a ton of Haydari and other sauces thrown in the plate. The owner should rethink hiring more people it is not fair to have 2 people serving especially if you’re taking reservations for large groups as well. I will say the food taste was decent but the quantity mismatch on meat portion vs sauces and rice/bulgar was the real spoiler!
Updated Response since owner decided to respond:
Firstly the 16-17 individuals had 9 Adults and the rest were 12 and under kids. Also you’ve conveniently decided to exclude the extra platters we ordered over and above the 2 platters for 5 Combo. Atleast 2 mix appetizers combo 3 kabob roll plates (can’t recall exactly but what I am sure about is that this group wasn’t/isnt stingy in ordering food portions to be appropriate for the size of the group). Nonetheless, as owner operator of a single restaurant you can decide what’s appropriate for your establishment the sentiment was shared by all families who gathered. Perhaps the mishap with staff and slow service made the experience worst than it was from an ambience and experience perspective (which I understand is uncontrollable give. Staff absences). Mind you we did tip the staff reasonably as well regardless of how the service was as we didn’t feel it was their fault entirely given what they were being put through. Food was good but please do better next time than trying to self profess your quantity and quality to be of merit. Given your explanation Can afford to offer you another star on service and food...
Read moreWe visited Finjan at 7:30 PM, with the restaurant scheduled to close at 11 PM. Although the place wasn’t crowded (only one table was occupied), we decided to give it a try. We placed an order, which included two plates of fish along with other dishes. Ten minutes later, the server came back to inform us that the fish would take 30 minutes to prepare. This seemed unusually long, but we agreed.
We then asked to order additional seafood. The server returned and said the fish would now take 45 minutes, and the other seafood couldn’t be cooked at the same time, so we’d need to wait for the fish to be done first. This made no sense, so we canceled the seafood order and stuck with the fish. The server came back twice to confirm our order, which made me feel they were stalling, possibly because they didn’t want to prepare the fish at all.
I insisted on having the fish and asked for the hummus and other dishes to be brought out while we waited. When the food arrived, it was a major disappointment. The hummus was served in a small portion, the salad was terrible, and though the menu stated it came with avocado, it barely had a spoonful. The fish, which they claimed would take 45 minutes, was served in just 15 minutes, proving their earlier claims wrong.
The final bill was $180 CAD, which is outrageous considering the poor quality of the food. To top it off, the restaurant owner was sitting by the cashier, eating in a rather unpleasant manner, which just added to the bad vibe.
Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend this place. Many of the positive reviews seem fake—if you check them, you’ll notice how unrealistic they sound. Think twice before going to this restaurant, as there are plenty of better...
Read moreI came across this restaurant while looking for halal catering options. Since it’s Turkish food with good reviews and strong visuals on Instagram, I decided to give them a try. I was connected with Hassan, the new owner, who invited me to the restaurant. He gave me samples, showed me how the presentation would look, and helped me create a combo for 5 meals to cater for 50 people. At first, I felt confident about moving forward. Unfortunately, the catering for my daughter’s 1st birthday was nothing like what we discussed. Despite my follow-ups, the service was unorganized and stressful. Food was delivered in Hassan’s personal car, with eggplant trays dripping everywhere. The pita bread/naan lid was missing, and the bread was rock hard. Meat dishes were poorly presented, just tossed into trays instead of displayed properly. Portions were also short — I was promised 50 beef tenders but received only around 25–30. Hassan had to return to the kitchen after I refused to pay and admitted mistakes were made. On top of that, I was upsold on kunafa for $180, but it looked nothing like their photos online or in the restaurant. It wasn’t the right color, tasted off, and most of it ended up in the garbage. The only positive was that the food’s flavor was good, and many guests complimented the taste. If it weren’t for my own chafing dishes and help from family, the catering would have been a total disaster. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. The restaurant may serve good food in-house, but their catering service is unprofessional and unorganized. The presentation you see on Instagram is not what you’ll get for an event. Until they improve, I cannot recommend them...
