Golden Palace Restaurant — Restaurant in Oakville

I absolutely love Chinese food. Especially authentic Chinese food. This place however is neither authentic or good. The foods taste is compatible to a shopping mall Chinese venue in the food court. It is just a lot more expensive. They also overload the dishes with vegetables like onions and green peppers so they can skimp on the proteins like chicken. So if you want to pay $15 for a bowel of shopped onions and green peppers this is your joint.

To give you an idea just how cheap these people are I ordered over $100 worth of food for four (“4”) people. They provided us with one, yes ONE (“1”) tiny packet of soya sauce.

When I called to complain the woman that answered the phone argued I don’t need soya sauce for my food. Lol I’m still trying to wrap my head around how this woman knows what we like and don’t like.

Had the food not been so bland yeah maybe we wouldn’t need it but that wasn’t the case.

We had the food delivered by skip the dishes and so the lady at the golden palace told me to come pick more up if I want more.

Ok so I’m supposed to leave my guests and let my food get cold so I can pickup what really should have already been provided and should be a no brainer when over $100 worth of food was ordered.

In summary if you are considering Chinese food in this area I strongly recommend against this place. They didn’t even have any interest in rectifying the issue they caused.

Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. The mall Chinese food is just as good or better and it’s cheaper and you will get as much condiments...

If you are in this area of Oakville and want some takeout late at night this is the option. The menu was classic take-out chinese with a we done the same way every time type style. I ordered some chicken balls and they were made quickly, there are benches to sit on with an ethnic style of music playing I cant remember well. Its exactly what Im used to in this style of takeout.

Unfortunately this place closed early on my next trip, it's a decent satisfying establishment but when they say they're open I couldn't grab a dish because they were locked up and closed early, im hungry so 1 star because i have to go home and order delivery from somewhere else.

Another update: this place is good enough for anytime so I gave them another shot, this time I tried to order over the phone. The gentleman who answered said hello several times, asked if I wanted an order, told me to wait, after 45 seconds I was hung up on. If they call back I will update, otherwise I'm going home to order delivery from...

I food is OK if you're really hungry. But there are much better options out there. I had sometimes stopped here when we want something quick. However, last time I went there, I decided to order 3 things. I ordered inside the restaurant off the menu hanging on the wall. The price for the 3 items were $5.99 + $6.99 + $10.99 =$23.97. Plus tax should have been around $27. She rang it up and was going to charge me an extra $1 for using a credit card, which I declined and used my debit card instead. Final total?? Over $33. I asked why the price difference and the person got quite animated and said "No! That an old menu. New prices on the website!" My kids really wanted 2 of the items, so I them and politely declined the more expensive item. As I was leaving, I grabbed one of the takeout menus outside of the door. All of the prices were the same as the menu hanging in the restaurant. It was a good option when prices were inexpensive. I will now try to find a better option at reasonable price and better...
