Mel's Diner and Café — Restaurant in Oakville

Run Away... Stay away. On our first visit, I should have left when I noticed that half of the outdoor tables were covered in dirty plates that had been left there for our whole 25-minute foodless visit, and no one had even tried to clean them up.

Once we were seated, a nice server took our order, brought us our coffees, and then we just sat there, waiting and waiting. After about 10 to 15 minutes, a server came over and asked how we were doing. We told her we were waiting for our food. She went over to the kitchen, chatted with someone, and then went out to take pictures of some guests. The original server never came back. After 25 minutes, we decided to leave, saying we had had enough and couldn’t wait any longer. There’s always a punchline at the end of every joke, and this one is no exception. This place is a joke.

After saying we were leaving due to bad service, the owner looked at us and said, “I only just got your order.” ( cue canned laughter ) This was her answer? Apparently, one owner, three servers, and a chef didn’t realize that two people were sitting there for about 25 minutes without any food. Or that they had outside tables that needed to be cleared.

Like I said. Stay away!!!! if there is a lack of attention at the front of the house. I cringe to think what goes on...

I was exhausted after a red eye flight, but a close friend said he wanted to take me for breakfast and that I wouldn't be disappointed and boy was he right. The location was somewhat unassuming from someone who had never been, but when I came in, Mel treated us like family.

I ordered the carnivore omelette and this thing was stuffed to the gills with ham, bacon, sausage and every bite was delicious. The potatoes (for a guy who normally doesn't eat potatoes) were amazing and i cleaned my plate. I was also dealing with a sore throat so needed something soothing and Mel whipped up a delicious hot chocolate which hit the spot just right.

The food and atmosphere are great but are made even more spectacular by Mel. You can tell she loves what she does and is just an overall fantastic person. Go check it out, I promise you will leave with a bigger smile than when you walked in. I sure did, and with a full belly too and look forward...

Wow… just wow! This restaurant has the best vibe to it. Both women working were absolutely amazing, both very kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is just warm and inviting. We sat at a table for two next to a window and it was so cute, very clean and well organized. The food was delicious as well, you don’t see prices this great nowadays! I got brunch foods and the French toast was to die for. My boyfriend inhaled his food and barely said anything, I guess he loved it!! But a very special shout-out goes to Alex. Alex deserves all the recognition: she was incredibly kind, the first thing she did was compliment what I was wearing and we had so much memorable conversation. Sweet, funny, and took very good care of us! Checked up on us plenty of times and made sure we were happy. Thank you Alex for your incredible service, we had such a pleasant time and never lose your spark ✨ we will definitely be back the next time...
