Went to chucks in brockville last night after the tall ships festival and I have to say that this was the absolute worst dining experience I have ever had. I was there with my wife and 2 children so not an out of the ordinary order size we were seated quickly but thats where the good news ends.
One server came to our table to tell hs that our server was too busy to see us and took our drink order the drinks came relatively quick. We then would have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to order our food. After that we waited for an hour and a half for our food asking several times what was taking soo long only to get the answer the kitchen is backed up. We waited and waited because we had already invested so much time might as well see it through and that the food would be worth the wait. Both oh boy were we wrong. When the food FINALLY came it was over cooked and dry like it had been under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. It was almost completely inedible the grilled cheese for my 2 year old daughter was rock hard my sons cheese burger was burned to a crisp (how can you not cook a burger its beginner level cooking). My steak was over cooked and had more fat than meat my wifes chicken was burned dry food was completely aweful to say the least. When the server came and asked if we wanted a take home container we said no thanks and asked for the bill I thought ok at least the disappointment is done now let's just pay and get outta here but I was wrong again. I look at the bill and see what they call a honest to goodness fee of 2% when I asked the server what that was she said it was because their prices were soo low and this was a way to keep it that way by the way our bill was ($93 for 4 meals real cheap eh) I then told her that their prices were no different than anywhere else if not more than she just said I know. By this point I just wanted to get out of there sk I paid my bill and left to me there was no point arguing because the staff obviously don't care about the place. I will NEVER return and will also let everyone around me know not to go there either. I wish I could rate it in the negative -5 star. I've had better service and food from a mom and pop shop. Read moreTo start we were seated at approximately 7:20 PM. We did not have a server come over for over 20 minutes, even for us to order a drink. Finally, we ordered drinks, an appetizer and entrees all at the same time. After another approximate 20 minutes, we still had no drinks (now 40 mins since arrival), but the appetizer was brought out to us. We had to ask/remind the waitress of our drinks as it wasn't even noticed by our waitress we didn't receive our drinks. Those were brought over within 5 minutes. It was an additional approx 20 minutes from when the appetizer arrived to the entrees arriving, meaning the entrees were received over 1 hr after arrival. I won't completely fault the waitress, as she was finishing up dealing with a large crowd of approx 15 people when we arrived, but this was when we first arrived. As you can see from the photo, the lobster received was extremely overcooked. I understand it's $25 surf and turf. However I question any chef that would think it's okay to send something as overcooked as that to a customer. It doesn't take much effort to realize this is obviously trash and a refire is required. Unfortunately this lobster was so overcooked, it couldn't even be salvaged by drowning it in butter to add moisture back to the meat. After waiting over an hour to get this overcooked atrocity, it wasn't even worth asking for it to go back. We simply had enough and didn't want to waste anymore time in this place. We have eaten at this location plenty of times in the past. After tonight, we would never recommend nor attend this establishment ever again. Even the server should have seen how horribly overcooked this lobster was before serving it. All around, it was an unfortunate terrible experience...
Read moreMy family and I made a trip to Brockville to go to Chuck’s Roadhouse celebrating Father’s Day with my grandfather as he is a fan of the restaurant. The food was average (nothing to write home about, but not bad by any means), but we were very disappointed with the service we received. My fiancé ordered a cocktail from the menu and after tasting it thought she may have been mistakenly given the wrong cocktail as the flavour was different than anywhere else she had ordered that drink. She asked the server if it was possible to double check that the drink was the correct one. Instead of simply confirming that the drink was the expected one, the server returned with an aggressive message from the manager: that’s definitely the right drink and if you don’t like it that’s your problem. The server proceeded to say that my fiancé could keep the drink but they wouldn’t be keeping it on her bill (which was something she never asked to remove). The bartender then came over to rudely say that the drink was definitely made correctly and “that’s the way we make the drink here”.
My fiancé’s question was simple enough and a “I talked with the bartender and she confirmed that the drink is the one you ordered.” would have sufficed and resolved the situation in a way that left our group feeling happy with our service.
Instead, the attempts by the manager and bartender to make my fiancé feel bad for asking a question and aggressively tell her “it’s your problem” left us with a bad taste in our mouth.
I can’t see myself or my family returning to an establishment where we know we’ll be berated by the staff, including, worst of all, management, in the event that there is any potential issue...
