Couldn't believe how crappy an experience this was. I ate at the Dairy Queen on Young St in Barrie 2 or 3 times a month; it's my girlfriend's favourite place for chicken fingers, but the 1160 Highbury Dairy Queen was one of the worst fast food dinner experiences. We ordered our food, and the cashier seemed confused about every single thing we said. It was simple. We'd like 2 of your $7 chicken finger meal deals. Each with a side of gravy, and each with a sweet n sour sauce. For our ice cream, we'd like a mini caramel blondie blizzard, and a mini fudge brownie blizzard. We had to repeat our order several times. Okay, the girl didn't seem to know english, so we tried not to let it bother us. It took them 15 minutes to prepare our order. How? There weren't any other customers at the counter or in drive thru. Oftentimes the Barrie location has our food ready before we even fill our drink and get to our table, and it's hot and fresh. The food was... okay. Not the worst I've had, but the oil vats desperately needed changing, everything was so dark. But we were only given 1 sweet and sour pack and 1 gravy (the gravy cups are about 1/3 the size of the Barrie location) as if that was going to be enough for two people's meals. (but you never know, because the portion sizes are only about 2/3 of the Barrie location portions) I went to the counter and asked for another sweet and sour and a gravy, and the girl who doesn't speak english got all frustrated and took off into the back, came out 5 minutes later with another tiny gravy and a sweet and sour. We're annoyed at this point, but not angry. Then came the Blizzards. It took them another 5-10 minutes to make 2 blizzards, again, no customers. We were alone in the lobby. I repeated that we want a fudge brownie blizzard and a caramel blondie blizzard. The girl who can't understand english gets frustrated at the machine while another girl told her that she's making a caramel truffle and that I ordered a caramel blondie, that they're two different things. (They thought I couldn't hear this). Then, we are presented with the two lovely blizzards you see in the picture. They were tipped upside down, but with a swinging motion as to use momentum to keep it from dripping out. As I picked it up, it went all over my hands. I took it to the table where we took the picture you see, and I took it back to the counter to be remade (when I put them down on the counter, gently, the ice cream ran down all over the counter). **Edit** I forgot to mention, we ordered the blizzard's to come AFTER the food. The blizzards did not just sit there while we ate. We ate first, then went to get our blizzard after. The other girl who CAN speak english, rather than apologizing before remaking it, gave me some excuse about how they have to keep changing back and forth between 2 ice cream machines because they only work for a little while. Really? AGAIN, zero customers. It was not busy. They remade it, a little better, not great, but we decided to just eat it and get out of there before it ruins the rest of our day. Then, we contacted head office, who told us "Whoops, sorry". No refund, no coupons, was it even a person or just automated? Every opportunity I get, I will inform people in London about my disgusting experience at 1160 Highbury Dairy Queen. I can't write a nasty review like this without some constructive criticism for the company, and that is as follows; Fire your entire staff at Highbury, and replace them with new staff. You could throw a rock at 2 random people in a crowd and come up with 2 better staff. Secondly, fire your PR representative at head office, they have no ability to retain customers. And lastly, when you hire new staff, send them to Young St in Barrie for training, so that they know how to properly run a store.

Dairy Queen is one of those places that always brings a smile, no matter how many times you visit. Known for their iconic soft-serve ice cream, Blizzards, and delicious burgers, DQ is the perfect spot for both meals and sweet treats. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a clean and bright atmosphere, along with staff who are always friendly and helpful. The food at DQ is consistently good. Their burgers, chicken strips, and fries are always served hot and fresh, making it a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. But of course, the highlight has to be their desserts. The Blizzards, with their endless flavor combinations, are a fan favorite and never disappoint. Whether it’s Oreo, Reese’s, or seasonal specials, each one is rich, creamy, and loaded with toppings. The dipped cones and sundaes are also simple classics that never go out of style.

The last time I ordered a peanut buster parfait from here there was no fudge in the middle. Tonight was just as bad. This location has been very cheap with their toppings and cutting corners including with their Blizzards. You pay a lot of money for cup of soft serve with traces of fudge and a few peanuts. The location on Dundas Street has always been good and their toppings are always plentiful. I will never return to this location as they are in the business of ripping their customers off. Went back today and the staff literally counted out the peanuts, virtually no fudge on the top and fudge missing on the bottom. Nothing has changed in 7 months no matter what the owner says about having a good experience. This was the first time back to this location. Never have this issue on Dundas Street.

Lastnight was one of the worst fast food experiences my girlfriend and I have ever had. We saw online that there was a promotion on (buy one get one for 0.99 cents) for blizzards. This was at 9pm. We arrived at this location at 9:10pm to a huge line up of cars that also had the same idea. Knowing they close at 10 I fully expected the line to not be moving fast as theres probably not many staff on. We did not get to the window until 5 minuets to 10...with a promotion like this on , staffing properly is super important...clearly that needs to be re-assessed. We placed an order for 2 reese's blizzards (one medium, one small). Upon reaching the window we were handed one Royal cheese cake blizzard and the window was instantly shut on us..once realizing we were still there the rude staff member started to get visibly upset with my girlfriend and I as we calmly told her that was not the order we placed. Even stranger, she read the order back to us over the drive thru voice terminal before we pulled up to the window and it was the right order being read back. She continued to argue with us, then argue with another female staff member (who was also rude to us) before finally telling me I owed her an additional $1.12 before I would get the blizzards (after being charged the exact amount on my debit prior for the CORRECT order that I had placed) rather than continue arguing or ask for a refund I just gave up and paid it (wich is practically theft or a huge sign of staff that is not trained properly). Very unprofessional workers and I sincerely hope management checks last nights closing schedule and deals with these two rude employees. Fighting with a customer and doubting them when there are 2 people in the car with functioning brains and the ability to remember what was said over the voice terminal should never be something this...

I went to this location because I was closer to it than my normal location. I got 2 sundaes, 1 blizzard, and a milkshake. When I was placing my order at the drive thru the person taking my order missed 2 item completely, and thought I wanted a strawberry cheesecake blizzard instead of a strawberry sundae. After re telling them my order they finally got the 4 items I wanted correct. Please make sure your drive thru ordering system is working correctly or have someone taking orders that is able to understand what people are saying. I have not had this issue at other DQ drive thru's. Only ever happens at this location At the drive thru I asked for lids and a tray. I had to re-ask for a lid for the blizzard. They gave me a sundae lid which doesn't even fit on the blizzard. Other DQ locations give one of the pop lid tops which actually stay on the blizzard container. The milkshake and blizzard were not mixed right. the milkshake had all the ice cream floating at the top, and was all liquid at the bottom. The milkshake didn't have any whip cream was never asked if I wanted whip or not. The blizzard I ordered has chocolate mixed into the ice cream making it like chocolate ice cream, this wasn't mixed in right and a part of the blizzard ice cream was just plain. I will not be returning to this location as I have always had negative experiences here and will instead go to my normal location even if I am closer...
