Edit* returned tonight. Server was lovely, a nice young man. He checked in on us a few times during the meal; and also easily accommodated a menu request I had for my meal. Food was fresh; and hot. I liked he gave me the options for fried or baked pita chips as I do not stomach fried foods that well anymore. The baked pitas were a very nice alternative. Perhaps the earlier visit was an off night, but I’m happy I decided to return. It was busy but everything seemed to have been running smoothly. Thank you!
I’m sorry to have to present such a long review but I’m very disappointed. I went February 25th (Tuesday night) at around 7pm and the place wasn’t very busy. Requested seating in the dinning room with a booth rather than the bar. Ordered my drink and my meal (skipped the apps). I ordered the Buffalo chicken burger with fries. I opted to switch out the Buffalo sauce for honey garlic as I cannot tolerate too much heat. No problem. Another patron ordered wings and sweet potatoe fries. The entrees did come together however; my chicken burger was an absolute mess. Way too much sauce, the tomatoe was slimy and the lettuce was quite sparing. The bun was oily. Everything slid off. I actually just ate the chicken and ditched everything else. The chicken was a little bit tough with spots of gristle. I work BOH and I know how to construct an easy chicken sandwich. This wouldn’t have passed Expo at my job; and I would have been given a slap on the wrist for even trying to pass it. My fries were room temperature and some of them so overdone they snapped in half like a tree branch. Plus I do think the fryer oil is old. The wings … the drums and flats are so small for the price you pay. I’ve never seen such small wings before at Kelsey’s. The only good takeaway was the side of sweet potatoe fries. The waitress only checked in twice; and the second time to assume we didn’t want dessert and present the bill. She also didn’t remember to bring the other beverage we requested to our table until we reminded her. Apparently the manager forgot? Once she came to our table to pay she asked if we needed the machine? ….after we just used the machine to pay. Worst experience in a very long time. I won’t be back. On a Tuesday night the lack of quality with foods passed over Expo the customer service of our service left a sour taste in my mouth. Not sure whose working BOH there but … I know I can push out way better food especially when you’re kitchen isn’t lit up Iike a...
Read moreI have never written a bad review and never felt the need to as I am someone that works in customer service and understands that everybody has a bad night. But after having had numerous bad experiences at this Kelseys, tonight definitely tops the cake and needs to be addressed.
I’ll start by saying, yes there was only one supervisor and one server on tonight and when we came in, there was a group of 16 or so that were on their way out. We were anWe were a group of 8 coming from a dodgeball tournament looking for beer and Appys, half of us understand and work in customer service so we did not care that our drinks were taking a while and that our server was busy with multitasking. Our main issue tonight was that the supervisor was openly rude numerous times with us. All we were getting was beer and appetizers, and when one member of our party asked to order she rudely looked at him and told him he could wait for his server. She then came back with menus 10 minutes later and walked away again, five minutes after that she came over and ended up taking our order anyways, the order was 2 Spin dips.
When the food was brought out, we thanked the supervisor and she looked at us blatantly ignored us, turned away, and walked away. Again, our service was slow, but that is not what we were complaining about, it was the attitude we kept getting for no reason. At the end of the interaction we tried to give our server feedback and she got very confrontational. She told us she didn’t think there was anything wrong with the service we were given and gave us attitude, even as I tried to explain to her that the majority of our issues came from her supervisor and not her.
Service is bad at Kelsey’s in Orillia, it always has been but we still end up going back because Orillia is a small town with a few options, but after this lasting interaction, I can definitely say I will be trying to avoid going back at all costs.
Food was good, drinks were good, and I’m sorry the server ruined the experience for all of us and affected the tip for their kitchen staff and bartender because of their lack of patience and kindness.
My goal with this is that the GM can see this and reflect, this review is not coming from a place of anger, but from someone who works in customer service, knows how stressful it can be and how rude some tables are and can honestly say there was no excuse for the attitude we were...
Read moreIf I could give a zero rating then I would. I booked the party room for 60 people celebrating a 90th birthday party. I communicated with Breanna(manager) and she said it would be better to have a smaller menu because of the number of people. Therefore we agreed to go with a smaller menu and I let all the guests know that it would be a smaller menu to order from. The room was booked for 4pm and at 7pm we still did not have a waiter/waitress to come and take our food order. The person celebrating the 90th birthday was diabetic and still had no food. I went to the restaurant area to speak to a manager and another manager said she would look into it as I told her I have been communicating with Breanna. Breanna came into the room and said one of the waitresses said she asked us but we said we were not ready which is not true so I asked the waitress why she said that when it was not true. No answer! Breanna said the waitress was crying and that she would not fire the waitress. I was shocked she said that because I would not expect any waitress to be fired. In my opinion it should be on Breanna as she was the manager so she should have came into the room to check on the waiters and waitresses to see if they were managing ok. There were two managers working that night and both stayed in the restaurant area and never checked on the party room at all considering 60 people were ordering food. Nine days before the party I confirmed with Breanna the total number of people. Though because of the poor service some people started to leave without ordering food before we could even do a cake and others went to the bar to order food because they had small children waiting to eat. I would never book a party there again and I would not recommend the Kelsey’s in Orillia to anyone. A night that was supposed to be a celebration turned into a disappointment for the birthday...
